I think the Coptic refugees from Somalia that are moving into Kenya might disagree with you.

I don’t post on this forum anymore because I’ve met some of the worst human beings while I was here and I don’t ever want to expose myself to that kind of petty meanness but I saw this and just had to respond. What is wrong with you people? Did you’re parents teach you as children to be blind followers and never question what you’re told? Not to be rude in anyway but the absurdity of this article is only trumped by the absurd comments made here. Does anybody here know any Somalis at all? If you did you would know as a people we respect our religious leaders and even at times we may listen to them when they tell us things but there is a line that has been drawn in the sand, they know this, we know this and if they {the religious leaders} value their heads, they don’t cross it, ever. We, as Somalis, don’t listen to anybody, we don’t like authority, its why our country is in the shape it is in now; we do what we want to do, when we want to do it and how we want to do it. Either every man, woman and child in that village is 110% behind this new rule or it’s a lie, they’re no two ways about it. Ask a Somali.

and fyi Somali has a 100% Muslim population. We’ll do everything in our power to stop someone from converting to Christianity or anything else but at the end of day if that person chooses to convert we don’t persecute them in any shape or form. They’ll become a freak show, people will come from all over the land just to catch a glimpse of them, and we’ll point and stare and make lots and lots of comments; we’ll make it into a spectator sport. Anybody who says either ways is flat out lying and trying to push their own agenda. The only things you could convert to where we may come at you with pitch forks are atheism, communism and/or Marxism. These we hate with a passion, Christians aren’t even a blimp on our radar and when you are you’re there for general amusement; I know its mean but you guys make us laugh.
In my years here at CAF, this is one of the saddest things I have ever read. I have never, ever, laughed at someone of a different religion. That hating and belittling someone is something to be proud of in your country is tragic. This breaks my heart to know that Somalia is in such bad shape. I can’t fathom the pain it must cause to live every day with hate in ones heart.

Devout love for God is so peaceful. I cannot imagine living in anything else. I hope you find true peace in your life.

Here’s an idea:

Maybe the flurry of posts bashing Fatuma’s home country and religion made fatuma upset, and so she’s retaliating by saying that she laughs at you all.

Doesn’t make it right, but you could possibly understand how someone would be upset by all the insults to her country and religion on this thread, don’t you?

That might be true except all that occured before Fatuma’s post was a news report, people saying that would pray for Somali’s and people being thankful that they have freedom of religion. If that’s bashing then I’d hate to see the reaction if something mean was said.

And what attitude is that?

We don’t kill over religion, we kill over Joe looking at bob the wrong way; trivial, useless, mundane things, things that are so stupid and beyond rational thinking you don’t even know where to start to fix things. But, wonders of all wonders, are; fixing things. We’re making some progress I didn’t even think we had in us to make. We could have been Taliban Afghanistan and psycho Saudi a millions times over, a million and one times over but we’re not, we’ve never been and we’ll never be. The trick is the relationship we have with our religion. This whole Islamist court thing is gonna blow over soon, that’s why a lot of us aren’t talking about it, why talk about dust in the wind?

Perhaps I’m not phrasing it right, Christians are like an enigma, a really strange thing; they’ve been our neighbors for half a millennium and colonized us for a bit over a 100 years and you’re still that weird thing in the corner we don’t get. The Russians were only with us for like a sec and we get them and we hate. We don’t even bother anymore trying to understand you, it’s something we’ve learned to live with and simply accept.

Btw, I’m anti-killing but deliberately did not state this on purpose because a) my opinion is not what I was trying to clarify and b) I’ve been on this forum back in ‘05 for months and I don’t want to place myself back in this…whatever you people call this place where there is only hate and anger and closed minds. This is my last post, you’re not sucking me in vortex of hate again

After reading Fatuma’s defense of Somalia, my only question was whether or not the news story in the headline was true. A quick internet search turns up quite a few articles on Somalia, including this news source which did carry the story.

fatuma says “we don’t kill over religion” but apparently not everyone there agrees with that philosophy.

She also says, “This whole Islamist court thing is gonna blow over soon, that’s why a lot of us aren’t talking about it, why talk about dust in the wind?”

Well, one would hope that it would blow over soon.

But I worry that violence in Somalia is not at an end.

Somalia is 100% Muslims because Christians are killed and persecuted.

MOGADISHU, SOMALIA (BosNewsLife) – Muslim militants in Somalia shot and killed a young Christian man who converted from Islam eleven months ago, Christian sources said Friday, September 15.

Since July three Christians were reportedly shot and killed by Islamists. Earlier in October 2005 an evangelist and house church leader, Osman Sheik Ahmed, “was shot dead by Islamist radicals,” Barnabas Fund recalled.

In addition Children of Christian Somali refugees in Kenya have been kidnapped by Muslim relatives and taken to Islamic institutions in Somalia for “rehabilitation”, rights investigators said.

SHARIA LAW

The leader of the ICU, Hassan Dahir Aweys, has reportedly promised to implement Sharia (Muslim Law) in all areas he controls. Under Sharia those who leave Islam for another religion must be killed.

“ICU leaders have even threatened to kill as apostates Muslims who are lax in their prayers, claiming this is commanded by Sharia,” Barnabas Fund added.

Somali Christian refugees in Kenya continue to face increasing attacks from Somali groups and struggle to receive adequate assistance to survive, according to reports received by Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW).

The beheadings will continue until morale improves.

Wow. I just peeked in to see what has happened on this thread since I last posted and Wow. I think I am going to bookmark it and use it as a reference for any new members who want to investigate Islam. This ought to scare them away for sure.

Fatuma, I really hope you find some peace in your heart, and if Islam was really giving you peace in your heart you would not have this attitude.

Learn from Meedo and Pro. They have level heads.

God be with you.

You are taking free will for granted like it is a human right…maybe in this country it is, but not everywhere. If someone told me I would have to pray 5 times a day or be beheaded, I would but it would become a habit, not something I wanted to do. God wants us to choose him…not be coerced into worshipping him. How great to be able to pray 5 times a day and have the support of government, but to be required? Nope, doesn’t fit God’s plan…
Free will is a gift from God!

I think that some of Fatuma’s responses illustrates something that I’ve noticed with many practicing Muslims. For some reason active Muslims often seem to have a hard time with any level of criticism.

Take this thread for example. Until Fatuma posted it was actually pretty mild in nature. It was really geared more toward sympathy to the Somali’s of that town and the idea that religion shouldn’t be coerced. Yet these sentiments were seen as hateful and hostile because they were in conflict with the ideals of some Muslims. This is inspite of the fact that Fatuma him/herself seemed to disagree with the law too.

So if Fatuma agreed that the law was bad then why were the other posters hateful for thinking so to? What really gets me with this is that it’s mostly Muslims who will suffer under this law.

It never ceases to amaze me how Muslims keep making themselves the “victims”. Fatuma’s posts are another example of that. She keeps accusing us of hate when her own posts are hateful, irrational and nonsensical. They can’t tell the difference between hatred of persons and hatred of evil deeds. As another poster commented, they cannot stand the slightest criticism, just like Muhammad, who had his critics silenced.

Muslims have hatred for other drilled into them by their imams and mullahs. Here is a sample of what Muslim students are being taught in the mosques right here in our country and this stuff comes straight from Saudi Arabia.

"The tracts he opens are in the voice of a senior religious authority. They tell him that America, his adoptive home, is the “Abode of the Infidel”, the Christian and the Jew.

"Be dissociated from the infidels, hate them for their religion, leave them, never rely on them for support, do not admire them, and always oppose them in every way according to Islamic law.

The advice is emphatic: There is consensus on the matter, that whoever helps unbelievers against Muslims, regardless of what type of support he lends to them, he is an unbeliever himself.

Other: Never greet the Christian or Jew first. Never congratulate the infidel on his holiday. Never befriend an infidel unless it is to convert him. Never imitate the infidel. Never work for an infidel. Do not wear a graduation gown because this imitates the infidels.

WAKE UP, AMERICA! And they dare accuse us of hatred?

At least they have heads. Apparently not always a surety in some areas of Somalia.
Good Point Jim…I guess this means the chances of them visiting in Somalia is slim too… I know they are Muslim so they are much safer than Christians…but somebody might misconstrue their levelheadedness for being a gasp Christian sympathizer.

The beheadings will continue until morale improves.

**At least beheading is quicker than burning alive - & probably far less painful. Moral: if you really insist on being executed by a religion, go Muslim - Christians are much less efficient, and much slower. **

Besides, given the Church’s humanitarian record, I don’t think we can really criticise. How is killing apostates from Christianity any better than killing apostates from Islam ? I think this is why many people won’t touch religion - any religion - with a ten-foot pole - they’ve seen or heard what religion does, once it’s in power. 😦 The label is virtually the only difference between Muslim & Christian frightfulness. ##

pro, awwww…feelings hurt? It must really hurt to forget to pray and then be stoned to death.

fatuma, you seem proud of murdering people who forget to pray. Which is more hateful, our posts or killing somebody?

Gottle, when was the last time the Church killed someone for apostasy? Centuries ago. When for missing a prayer? Never, as far as I know. In Somalia, and elsewhere in the Muslim world, it happens today.

PS: Would you like me to post the link to a video of an actual stoning? I can do so. Although it is not for the weak of stomach. It may lead to nightmares. Fair warning.

Well, we have yet to hear Christians killing other Christians for apostasy. But we have certainly seen a lot of Islamists assaulting or killing apostates from Islam, which is why you don’t hear of any muslims openly announcing their conversion to another faith. The Islamic religion itself mandates severe punishment for apostasy.

I know. I have a photo of it in stills one by one. I dont have an actual video.

The stills are really enough and hard to stomach as you say. I think we should be aware of it and see its gruesome side before commenting.

And yes, Gottle is right, we have blood on our hands. But as you say, when has it happened in any of our lifetimes? Unless you are Shirley Mc, Whatever her name is.
