Some Cuckoo took a Kindle to Adoration

I’d love to have a Kindle with my favorite books on it including the Bible etc.

I don’t think I’d take it to adoration even if I had a prayer book on it.

If people do choose to use a Kindle during adoration, etc, most devices have a way to make things silent so you don’t disturb others.
 
I have a Kindle and a Blackberry. I downloaded the iBreviary app to the Blackberry. You have to update it daily, but it’s a free app and since I have an unlimited data plan, doesn’t add to the cell phone bill. All of the hours are there, and the daily Mass readings as well. I’ve brought it to Mass, and most people who I usually sit near are probably used to me scrolling through during the readings by now. If they have uncharitable thoughts, they shouldn’t be doing that anyways (to avoid rash judgment we are supposed to give our neighbor the benefit of the doubt whenever we see something we may consider questionable.)

Warning: iBreviary guzzles battery power. Make sure to completely exit iBreviary every time you leave it, or you will come back to a very dead phone a couple hours later.

I have a Kindle as well, but haven’t downloaded LOTH or the Missal to it yet. I have a lot of secular reading on it, and I haven’t noticed any clicking when “turning pages,” no more sound than a mouse click, or the clicking of rosary beads, anyways. MIne is in a leather cover, and that may dampen the sound somewhat.

can’t find these for kindle, when you do, let me know
I probably won’t take kindle to adoration because our chapel is rather dark, but since it is the only “book” I will take on vacation no doubt I will have it in church at some time or another since my bible and spiritual reading are there.

the zipper on my ignatius bible makes more noise than the click of a kindle, which I actually cannot hear myself. I got a cord rosary precisely because the regular bead and link one seems so noisy to me in chapel.

It is only in the extreme quiet of the Chapel that I even notice the clicking)

These are my tricks too. I agree about the quiet. I wonder if I am too sensitive. Some books’ pages can be on the "loud’ side in that quiet too.
 
Everyone is talking about Kindles but I have a nook color. It is touch screen so I just swipe my finger across and it turns the page. Completely without noise. The only time I have ever taken it to church was during Good Friday services. There was a two hour break between the stations of the cross/divine mercy and the veneration of the cross so I just sat in the pew and read St. Faustina’s Diary on my nook. I felt awkward at first but it was a lot better than an actual book b/c I could switch between readings without carrying a book bag into the church.

There isn’t a LOTH for e-readers yet. I haven’t found a missal either. You can download an app on your smart phone for both though.

my phone is as dumb as I am

now I know why those baggage size purses are so popular nowdays, people have at least 3 if not more electronic devices to tote.

Oh that is very cool. Thanks for sharing. I only have my nook and my not so smart phone. so not that many electronics. I do have an ipod for listening to podcasts! They have great Catholic ones and there is a LOTH podcast with music and the readings and everything. Really great!
