Some Mother Angelica quotes that cheered me up

Yup, nothing ruins a good spiritual jam like having to deal with other people

😇

"Holiness is not for wimps and the cross is not negotiable.”*

One time while I was watching Mother Angelica on tv, my 5 year old son was drawing. He drew a picture of her! We sent it to her and thought nothing more about it. She actually wrote him a letter (typed) and thanked him for the drawing and said she would remember him during mass. It looks as if she did actually sign it. I have it tucked away somewhere. 😊

You hold onto that, it will be a second-class relic before you know it.

My mother constantly tried to get me to watch her while she was alive and on the air. Unfortunately that was during the unholy time of my life and I wasn’t having any. I did watch her from time to time but not at any length. I got very attached to her when she passed away just a few months after my mother did. Also I had been unaware she was from NE OH originally (since she was always broadcasting from Hanceville AL) or I would have paid more attention to her.

Well, you can watch her reruns. You just weren’t ready at that time in your life. We all have things we regret ignoring that our parents urged or encouraged us to show interest in, but we didn’t. Sometimes, we eventually come around. I am hoping my children will realize that someday too, about some of the things I try to get them interested in.

That one is one of my favorites!

I also still have a cassette tape of Mother praying the rosary that my mother gave me. Hearing her voice can be so comforting

Yes, fortunately she left a lot of reruns and books. As did Archbishop Sheen, who was off the air before I was born.
We are so lucky to have preserved records of some of these great saints in the making.

some of the quotes were mentioned twice in the list. but that’s OK, they were worth rereading 🙂

There was one episode I was watching, and Mother was discussing the Marian Apparition at Tre Fontane. The seer, Bruno Cornacchiola despised the Catholic Church and had a particular animus towards Mary. During the apparition, The Virgin repremanded Bruno and she told him; “I am the Virgin of the Revelation. You are persecuting me — enough of it now!” Mother never missed a beat and quipped; “You gotta love Our Lady…what a gal!!!” Needless to say, I almost fell off my chair!

Below is link that describes the apparition.

Mother Angelica was one-of-a-kind. I like her plain-spoken language, and the great tv, radio, and internet network she left behind. Check out the EWTN audio library (on EWTN.com) for thousands of great shows that have been archived for free-downloading.

I ran across her videos after hitting roadblocks trying to revert back into the church. Her talks helped me trememdously, so much so I would tell people she was my spiritual director. She still is.

It’s similar for me. Watching her reruns on EWTN is what started me on my journey back to the Church. I love her quotes about our need to tell the truth, something she always did. Along with all her other virtues courage was one she always had.

She was speaking one day of a woman who had called in with a question. “What’s your age, dear?” Mother asked. “Oh, we don’t talk about that” the lady replied. Mother shot back, “Well, don’t make us guess because you know we’ll make it worse🤣
