I haven’t actually seen The Birds. 😛

I am also a little confused of what is meant by classics. Do 70’s and 80’s movies count?

Rear Window and High Noon…Grace Kelly. What a beautiful woman.

I would describe a classic as a movie that was either well-liked by the general public or one that gained terrific reviews from those in the know. Or perhaps both…
On another note, one of the things I liked about Alfred Hitchcock movies were his appearance in the movies.
For example, in The Birds, Hitch is an early scene early the film where he is walking a group of dogs out of a pet store.

Do you know where he was in Dial M for
Murder? @ YourNameHere

Movies that have stood the test of time. Best definition I can think of. By that measure, even some '90s movies could be considered classics.

I found It’s A Wonderful Life to be a very dark, disturbing movie, though with a happy ending. That is one movie we don’t watch at Christmas time.

The Birds, on the other hand, is a hoot! It would air occasionally on local TV when I was a kid. (Keep in mind that either TV reruns, or original features at the theater, were the only way we saw movies. No cable, no Netflix.) We kids were simultaneously freaked out and fascinated with it. Great movie!

In that case I’ve seen and like way more classics than I mentioned… I only put the old ones on my list. 😂

So would Shawshank Redemption and Schindler’s List be classics under this definition?

Bringing Up Baby
Father Goose
Quigley Down Under
The Thin Man
Gunga Din
North by Northwest
Operation Petticoat

I’ve got a lot more but I’m drawing a blank at the moment.

This is a favorite of mine. The original boat named African Queen used in the movie was on display at the entrance of the 1984 Worlds Fair in New Orleans.

I wonder why they rarely show Amadeus on
TV.
I really liked it when it was released. I wonder why some movies hold their popularity and others fade away as do the actors who starred in them.

There was a class reunion photo that Ray Milland holds. Hitch is on the left side of the reunion photo. Very obscure. LOL

You have to look quick or you’ll miss it.
My favorite Hitch cameo was in the movie Lifeboat. He appears in a newpaper ad, before and after photo of a weight loss ad, I think.

I just see it as an entertaining movie, well-written and acted, and with a positive view of Christianity.

I do not read big deep messages into movies.
