Why do you assume that I don’t have compassion?

My father loved me but he still let me know when I was being an idiot.
Your response of “why would you put a medical device in your body…especially a medical device that is not needed.”

To the patients who got it, it was needed. They didn’t have the point of view that it was sinful or not needed. They are not idiots. Their doctors counseled them on it, told them it was less invasive than tubal ligation, and successful, and so they proceeded. It isn’t the women’s fault it is causing problems.

You might want to revisit the difference between a need and a want.

I know the difference. I’m not one of the patients. But as previous posters have pointed out, it’s pretty mean to shrug and say they got what they asked for by getting birth control in the first place. Keep in mind that pretty much anyone brought up not Catholic has never been told of the concept that birth control is sinful. To the contrary. They are told it is their obligation! So yes! To her, it was a need. It’s so important to put ourselves in someone’s position and feel some compassion and sympathy before we decide to list their faults and sins.

Religious beliefs do not change wants and needs. Food is a need, water is a need. The dohicky in question is not a need.

It is very easy to decide for others what wants and needs are, when you know only scant details of their life.
