The teacher should file an EEOC complaint saying she was fired because of her religious views.

That would be funny.

I think there is more to the story. I am disappointed with the attacks against the Bishop Paul Bootkoski of New Jersey. It seems that the first reaction of some people is to spew insults before learning what the other side has to say. Headlines on pewsitter.com put him in the category of “liberal” “Judas bishops” and “false bishops” etc. and that is sad. Who really is Bishop Paul Bootkoski? I have nothing at all against Bishop Bootkoski. In 2012 he presented Patricia Jannuzzi with the Regina Nostra medal. A student reporter wrote at the time: “Because of her love and devotion to Immaculata High School and the parish, Mrs. Patricia Jannuzzi was the ideal nominee for the award.”

What disturbs me is the feeding frenzy which caused Mrs. Jannuzzie to lose her job after 24 years of service.

I am glad you posted that link. You are right. There could easily be more to this story. We do not know what the bishop may be up against.

In the Catholic high school my family attended, recently a sister made a comment about standing up for the traditional family and fighting against same sex marriage and the students all got very upset, called the news and petitioned against her comments. In that instance the school and the other teachers stood by the teacher but many of the parents were upset with the sister and complained along with the students.

That is why agree we probably should not judge the bishop too much unless we truly know his situation.

It almost seems that in this world you can post anything that is considered liberal, but as soon as you post something on or for the conservative side you are crucified. Conservatives have a right to be heard as well as the liberals, but please do not attack the arguer, attack the argument.

People are entitled to their opinions and beliefs but, posting them where the public can see may lead to trouble. What is the point in arguing with the public? I have a life and it is not about those knuckle heads out there!😃
 
FB is only for atheists and those who go along with their agenda. No Catholics allowed. Or so it seems.
 
For me, Facebook is a way to keep up with Family and Friends, many of whom are hundreds and thousands of miles away. I hate it when someone posts something controversial with which I disagree. That keeps me from posting anything that could be considered political. I will “like” things that are political but I don’t share them myself. There are probably somethings I post that people find offensive, like a prayer vigil at an abortion clinic. For the most part, I’m not there to stir the pot.

Not everyone feels the same and more power to them. This woman obviously didn’t. However, her post was somewhat off the wall and that didn’t help her or the Church or the school. It’s very possible that even if she had been truthful and gentle, that there would be those that would take offense.

Isn’t unrepentant sin the problem? This doesn’t just apply to homosexual behavior. There are unrepentant adulterers, fornicators, liars, thieves, sloths, those that lust, masturbators, etc., etc. The unrepentant homosexuality isn’t worse than those other things but there isn’t a lobby for the others things. Those involved in most of those other activities aren’t pushing their lifestyles onto the public and demanding total acceptance.

If she had written that she wished homosexuals would repent from their sinful homosexual activity and avoid the fires of hell, what would the reaction have been? Probably not as strong a reaction but still, that would upset many. In the United States, if you say anything but good things regarding homosexual behavior, your opinions will not be welcomed. There will come a day when there will be a push to make it illegal to say anything negative about the sin of homosexual behavior. Many will read that last line and roll there eyes, just like I would have done thirty years ago, if you had predicted what has happened regarding the subject.

Yes, it’s true that other immoral actions do not have their own lobbying organizations set on normalizing them. Of course, many of them have already been successfully ‘normalized,’ as anyone objecting to a close relative shacking up instead of marrying will come to realize. But any criticism of homosexuality is taken as a personal affront, and in fact, in some places, criticism–even speaking Catholic teaching about the subject–can be categorized as ‘hate speech’ and prosecuted.
