This morning, I woke up refreshed. I did my usual morning prayer and read today’s scripture reading and homily. There was something that the priest wrote in that homily that I did not notice when I read today’s gospel. It was in Jn 1:42b which says,“Jesus looked at him (Simon)”. The priest wrote it this way: Jesus looked at Simon --that special, intense, concentrated look of love that sees not only what is on the surface, but inner depths.

It was nothing at first, but when I reflected on it for a while, there was a feeling that I really could not describe. It was like I was there and Jesus was not looking at Simon, but me. It feels like there was something heavy in my heart that has been lifted or melted with that look. I believe I have just been healed with my hurts - of being rejected by ex-boyfriend. I did not measure up to my ex-boyfriend’s standards so he left me and married someone else who may have met his standards (good for him). Jesus allowed me to really see who I really am and what I am worth to Him. He sees me as His Child, His Friend and His Champion. And I believe in my heart and mind now that this is my real image and I am special to Him. I felt like He said I am worth dying for…indeed, He died for my sins on the cross. For a long time, I have not felt this romantic feeling (yes, I find this romantic) and yet felt deeply spiritual.

Now, I can see that my pain had been a gift. It allowed me to see the real me, my real worth and who really Jesus is to me. I thank Him for that gift and the growth that is brought about by the painful experience. Now, I can move on and I know I can now see clearly Christ in the people around me.

I thank you for your prayers.

Christ has revealed to you the pain he felt while dying on the cross. He would have done it for you, even if you were the only person living on earth at the time. That is how much God loves you. The evil one has been tempting you to doubt your value to God. As to Christ looking intently at you, see what that type of look does: it heals!

Acts 3 Peter Heals the Crippled Beggar

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him (stared intently), as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.

This is what has occurred to you. It was a spiritual healing. Praise God in Heaven.

Merciful Lord, we thank and praise You for the healing You have accomplished in marymagdalene. We ask You to remember her with love as she goes through her day, reminding her to praise Your Name, as the beggar did in the Temple. We lift her name up to Your Throne, begging the healing intercession of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Thanks be to God!

That is so encouraging - God is certainly great! ❤️

Praise the Lord! I am still praying for you.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

a friend invited me years ago to her Lutheran church for a series of Lenten presentations by her pastor. It was actually a “one man show” where he dressed as Peter and narrated the various gospel events leading up to Passion from his point of view. Very well done, very well researched, very orthodox, and left no doubt at all that Peter was chief among the apostles and their leader. But the last night was about the arrest and events following, from, I think, Luke’s gospel, where just as Peter has denied Christ the 3rd time, Jesus turns and looks at him, with the gaze your priest describes. Don’t remember what the preacher said but remember to this day my reaction, of Christ looking at me, at my soul, at my sins and betrayals. I have never forgotten it, and the power of the really looking and seeing, the way Christ sees us.

pray that we see others as Christ sees and love others as Christ loves.

Thank you for sharing this. Praise God and thank you Mary.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary
