Sometimes I Feel, Protestants Really Do Understand Where Catholicism Came From, But Pride Is A Deadly Sin

Sometimes I feel that Protestants here fully understand that the Catholics were the first Christians, and that Jesus Christ did in fact establish this church. That the bible is a Catholic book and that everything was Catholic in belief back then, 2,000 years ago.
I also think they understand where and why the papacy was started, what Scripture backs it up and the Sacraments Christ left us upon His return. Some Protestants here will say, yes, I do believe this but when the Reformers came…etc…
Well, if Jesus Christ himself established and founded his Catholic church, way before the Reformers thought things weren’t going their way, why aren’t they Catholic? If Christ, loooong before ESTABLISHED THE CHURCH before any Protestant saw the light of day, why aren’t you in the church looooong before the Reformers came?? The Reformer’s were not Christ, therefore Christ did not start ANY Protestant churches…

you err in using a capital C for catholic when referring to the early church. Christ did NOT found the Catholic church, He founded a catholic church of ALL believers. It is so simple, yet it cant be seen through all the dogmatic brainwashing.

Catholic meaning Universal for all of God’s people. He was referring to the church, if this is so, then why aren’t you in it? His universal church.
And this little c and big C is totally ridiculous. We are Catholic period. Same doctrine, never changed, stood for 2,000 years when you’ve been around for say 500 years or so…go figure…it is you that is totally blind. God help you.

nope, you have it wrong. You want universal to mean your denomination, but that would not be accurate. I am a member of Christ’s universal church, as are all believers. You are the ones that have to have denominational claims.

Protestants thought Catholics were going astray from God’s Word and Jesus’ teachings. They didn’t recognize the authority of the Pope nor did they appreciate “buying their way into Heaven.” They also did not like the Catholic’s way of interpreting the Bible; Protestants favor a strict/literal interpretation.

It ironically says you are a Catholic in your profile. This information is incorrect you give. St. Jerome interpreted the bible. So didn’t Luther. Luther changed it to fit his mindset of that era. He removed many books HE DID NOT AGREE WITH. The nerve on some people.

Actually, I think B and B was giving his opinion of what protestants think, not what he believes. So the information is generally accurate, particularly in the first part, that the Church was straying and needed reform.

And just a reminder, that Luther included all the DC books in his translation that are part of the Catholic Bible. I have a copy of it (not an original, of course 😃 ). He did not remove them, but instead questioned their standing in the canon, and he was not the first to do so, as has been implied here by another. He said they were good for study and reading. It is much after Luther that some protestant groups began deleting them.
