True but I would want to know the correct etiquette and follow that.
Every priest can tell you this is true – because we have all had it happen to us, if we have been ordained long enough, that various comments not meant for our ears reach them, thanks to a child who says…“Oh, daddy, you are right…Father is eating too much pasta [or sweets]!”I’d be careful about saying that’s how women show respect…or she’ll end up with a little guy who will blurt out something along the lines of “Mrs So and So doesn’t cover her head, so she doesn’t show respect to God”, and without a doubt, it will be stated at the worst possible time or in front of the last person you’d want hearing it.
Except we do…when we are in Orders or in Religious life. You can tell him that boys and men are not allowed to cover their heads in church.
It is in The Ceremonial for Bishops, among other places. Essentially a seminarian will know the basics in short order, by practice – presuming he is attentive and we are talking about standard Masses.I know the Vatian publishes the rubrics, but where do they have written the proper times for the bishop to remove his miter, his zucchetto and such things?
Could your husband or parish priest have a ‘quiet word’ with your son about mantilla’s are only worn by females or you could read the bible verse: St. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:7 For a man ought not to have his head veiled, since he is the image and reflection of God; but woman is the reflection of man.I started wearing a chapel veil at my novus ordo mass. My six year old son saw me and then decided to pull his sweater over his head (DURING MASS). I tried pulling it down several times and whispering to him that this was something girls and women do at Church. I explained it to him again several times since. He still says he wants to wear a veil too. How best can I explain this to him
That sends a wrong message. So women are not reflections of God as well? God does not have a gender.Could your husband or parish priest have a ‘quiet word’ with your son about mantilla’s are only worn by females or you could read the bible verse: St. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:7 For a man ought not to have his head veiled, since he is the image and reflection of God; but woman is the reflection of man.
Just tell him "Sonny, you are a young man. Girls wear veils, boys wear suits and ties when they are in church.I explained it to him again several times since. He still says he wants to wear a veil too. How best can I explain this to him?
