Idiot. Now is the time for the Church to very publicly demonstrate its methodology on these matters…Kick his butt out and give evidence to the police.

Hopefully they caught him before he was able to hurt any kids himself.

If I were Cardinal O’Malley… I would definately bounce him out, publicly denounce him, and **say to the BPD; “he’s all yours.” **Men like this are NOT helping to spread the Gospel of Christ.

I am so angry. I understand some people are sick, and need help; but we need to be better, holier and cleaner than the other denominations. As I see it, this man was VERY selfish in not seeking help, removing himself from his parish, and going away to where help could be found. This is unacceptable.

There is no way this man could think he was normal. When most people look at porn, they’re looking at full grown adults! People like him are the reason the Catholic Church is a punchline that no one takes seriously.

Perhaps you would want to presume him innocent until proven guilty?

Of course, he should be suspended pending further investigation, but it seems to me he must be presumed innocent. Of course, the diocese should cooperate fully with any request by the police.

Aww, not Father Urbaniak! If its who I think it is I met him on a number of occasions. My own father is from Southie so I am very upset by this. Pray for Southie and pray for Father Urbaniak. Pray for our Church!

It is vital that the Church be transparent in this investigation. There cannot even be the slightest appearance of a lack of cooperation.

Suspension must be immediate and if the allegations turn out to be true, dismissal must also be immediate.

The church should do something to prevent this.
Maybe train the priests’ mind mentally? or something

the Bishop should do this when he hasn’t been convicted? l

porn isn't normal no matter who your looking at.many start by looking at so called "normal" images than move to more and more degrading images.

The police will want him for questioning. In most cases this involves questioning at the area police station. Be FULLY cooperative. Cooperation hasn’t always been in great supply in Boston. I should know because I grew up just outside the city and have seen EXTENSIVE coverage of these issues from the 1980s to today.

Child porn is a whole different level of “bad”. Just my opinion.

I FULLY agree, Seeker.

We’ll have to wait and see.

The pornography was found on a computer others have access to.

So, it might not be the priest, but right now it doesn’t look good.

This is terrible. The boston archdiocese needs to kick him out.

For those who are asking why he should be denounced now…did you read the article, where it says he confessed?

I can’t say anything else because it’s too upsetting. It makes me too shaky and sick.

Even assuming he’s guilty (and I’ve heard enough cases involving false confessions to know that such an assumption is risky), why kick him out? He’s been suspended from active ministry, as is proper of any priest with such an accusation. The police are investigating, and likely there will be a prosecution. If he’s guilty, he’ll almost certainly do time.

But why defrock him? Once he gets out of prison, there are plenty of monasteries and convents that need chaplains . . . .
