I don’t think this priest a fool, though I believe he did go too far in this case, The mass killing of children is a great evil, and perhaps some of those who voted for the pro-abortion candidate ought to do such a thing before going to communion. But I don’t think this would have to be true for everyone.
In some cases there can be greatly mitigating factors. Someone voting for Obama may not even realize that he was pro-abortion. Certainly most television networks for one source never informed the public about this. A person following the news on such sources may not even have realized that he was pro-abortion at all.
Furthermore some self-proclaimed Catholic groups were in fact set up to promote the Obama campaign, and tried to convince people that other factors could easily outweigh a candidate’s abortion position. I unfortunately had some personal experience of this very thing. I presume that this confused some Catholic people.
It would have been better if the priest had simply asked his people to search their conscience in view of their candidate’s abortion position, if they were aware of it.
I never heard of the news source provided in the opening post, so I don’t know how reliable it is. Here I assume that it is generally accurate when it comes to this story, though this may be unwarranted.

My guess is that Father knew people who knew what they were doing and perhaps even were spreading false information in the parish. If so, he should simply have named them.

Wow. I was re;ying too much on rhe AP story. What is sad is that Msgr reveals himself as just another example of the poor guidance we are getting from our clergy. But they are always with us, these “careful” men who geneflect to the world. Men like Cardinal Martini, the perfect pope for many of our clergy.
