Spanish bishops denounce blasphemous porno catalog

The photos show Christ and the Virgin and others in various sexual poses. The catalog received financial backing from the local government, and the regions culture minister.

Archbishop Santiago Garcia of Merida-Badajoz and Bishop Amadeo Rodriguez of Plasencia have strongly denounced the tax-payer funded publication of a catalogue containing pornographic images of Christ, the Virgin Mary and the Saints.

Tedster,

You beat me to it.

I am speechless with with disgust and horror. I don’t know if you have seen the pictures or not (and I encourage you to NOT look at them. It isn’t necessary, trust me …); I received them from an outraged friend in an e-mail that, unfortunately, didn’t give any indication as to the content in the subject line. I opened the e-mail and there they were. On a Friday in Lent! Although it was late, I immediately went for a walk and offered a rosary in reparation for the blasphemies.

I cannot express my disgust in words strong enough. I am going to Mass this morning (it’s Saturday a.m. here) and I will offer another rosary, a Holy Hour and Stations of the Cross in reparation too. I’m not exaggerating … the blasphemy is that horrible.

This filth was funded in part with public money by the regional government of Extremadura, which is governed by the Socialist party… money which also comes from the Catholic people of this country who are suffering greatly under the constant attacks of the Socialist regime on the Church and her members (please pray for Spain!).

The limitless hypocrisy of the Socialist president, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who last year very publicly condemned the reprinting of the cartoons unfavourably depicting Mohammed, but who has said NOTHING on this issue is too vile for words. But his hatred for the Christian Faith is nothing new, and so it is not surprising that he should say nothing.

And here I have to add: please, please, please … pray for the soul of the phtotographer responsible for this “art”. His name is José Antonio Moreno Montoya. Please pray for his repentance and conversion.

The minister of “culture” who approved the funding of this filth is Francisco Muñoz Ramírez. Please pray for his conversion as well.

You´re right. Spain, my country, is living nowadays a very, very, very difficult moments. We have a huge cynical and revolutionary socialist president who is determined to destroy everything our country is and then build a new one (or new ones) where our Faith, our Liberty and Tradition don´t exist anymore.

Please, pray for Spain!!

JEPI,

¡Hombre!

And for the rest of you, since it is generally considered impolite to speak a language that not everyone present understands 😉 , I merely said to JEPI that I am very happy to have discovered another poster from my beloved Spain here on the forums following my return from the promised Mass and rosary of reparation.

I also said that, yes, we do indeed have to pray for this country and for her blind leaders who are leading her down the road to moral ruin faster and faster every day. But we also have to remain hopeful, because Spain has suffered and survived much in the past 2,000 years since the glorious Apostle St. James the Greater first brought the Faith to these lands.

And so, let’s roll up our sleeves, hit our knees and move forward with determination and joy! 👍

Moneo!! I´m happy too for having discovered another spaniard here on these forums.

It´s good to read these hopeful words you wrote, and you´re (again) right: Spain is a great country that has suffered a lot over the history, specially these days, but I know that God is with us and He won´t let us alone!

I´ll try to post here every time I can but unfortunately my english isn´t yet good enough to explain myself and maintain a deep debate on every issue.

God bless you!

I am currently teaching theology here in Spain. Although the blasphemies are very disturbing to say the least, our Lord is bringing good out of it as the Spanish faithful are reacting and seeking to protect thier faith in the face of such grave hostility. The reaction of the bishops have been exemplary; they are true courageous pastors giving heroic testimony of faith and fidelity. God has blessed us with their firmness and clarity on this issue and many others. I will join you all in our prayer campaign for the re-evangelización of our querida España.
