Does the Roman CC speak in tongues at mass or anywhere else?
Check into the Catholic Charismatic Renewal for information.Does the Roman CC speak in tongues at mass or anywhere else?
Also you can check with your diocese to make sure you are going to a Catholic group.Speaking in tongues is one of the charisms meant for the building up of God’s kingdom. Does your parish or a nearby parish have a weekly prayer group?
There are Charismatic Masses is less often. The city where I live has an annual healing Mass where the gift of tongues will be expressed. Other locations have more frequent Charismatic Masses. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a FIRE rally, please go. FIRE stands for Faith, Intercessory Prayer, Repentance, and Evangelization. They always include a Charismatic Mass. The last time I attended, The Mass was concelebrated by two bishops.
On May 19, 1975, Pope Paul VI gave special permission to Cardinal Josef Suenens to celebrate a Charismatic Mass at the high altar in St. Peter’s Basillica.
Not another tongue thread:bigyikes: :bigyikes: :bigyikes:Does the Roman CC speak in tongues at mass or anywhere else?
There is no proof that he ever did speak in tongues despite what the movement may say. I think even they have backed away from it due to lack of proof. If there wasproof, don’t you think it would have been presented by now?. It hasn’t been presented so more than likely he did not. Merely saying he did doesn’t make it true. But if you have access to proof of this, please share it with us. I’ve heard this since the 80’s and never seen any proof at all about it.JPII is said to have prayed in tongues (no not a known foreign language) and was supportive of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
I have a friend who is a priest, very much part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, who vouches for this after having been to events with JPII, heard him pray. There is no proof that he ever did speak in tongues despite what the movement may say. As I said, I’ve heard these claims for years, always from someone who allegedly was there. Unidentified of course,I have a friend who is a priest, very much part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, who vouches for this after having been to events with JPII, heard him pray.
And if it isn’t, why should one accept?“These charismatic gifts, whether they be the most outstanding or the more simple and widely diffused, are to be received with thanksgiving and consolation, for they are exceedingly suitable and useful for the needs of the Church.” (Const. on the Church, #12)
3 Principles of Spiritual Renewal (Paul VI):
As a Carmelite nun once said, “I don’t know whether or not this [speaking in tongues] is from God; but if it is, why should I refuse?”
- Faithfulness to the authentic teaching of the faith
- Grateful reception of gifts
3 Supremacy of love over all the other gifts.
What’s the point of your comments? To prove that the CC has no members who speak in tongues, especially not our Pope?As I said, I’ve heard these claims for years, always from someone who allegedly was there. Unidentified of course, except that it is always a Priest :extrahappy: deeply involved in the Charismatic movement, and equally unidentified as to where and when it occurred. Believe me if it had really happened, it would have been trumpeted around the world as to when and where it happened. The leaders of the Movement would not have lost this golden opportunity.
But they did, No one has ever brought forth any proof whatsoever. The most telling point is that John Paull II himself never claimed to have been so blessed. So it remains

Hate to say it man, but speaking in tongues is more common than you think and it probably would not have been ‘trumpeted’ like you say. It probably would have been a story told from eye witness to others, like Eilish has told us.
I have no reason to not believe it.
It sounds like you have waged a personal war on the Catholic Charismatic movement.
Not at all. I’m just tired of hearing rumors and lies presented as truth, thats all. As I said, even the Charismatic movement itself has backed away from these claims to a great degree . And no, it really isn’t more common than I think. Believe it or not, I travel quite extensively and hear Mass in many places. The movement isn’t what it was in the eighties and nineties except in a very few places. What’s the point of your comments? Can someone ‘prove’ every little thing that happened during his years as Pope? Every audience, every meeting with priests and seminarians??Quote:

Seems Palmas points is — if someone is going to use our late Pope’s name — they should be able to prove it.

Thanks again for bashing me this way.Not at all. I’m just tired of hearing rumors and lies presented as truth, thats all. How is it bashing you? By asking you for some proof of the claims you are making? Hey you said this event happened. I asked you to provide some proof, any proof at all. The silence is deafening. Thanks again for bashing me this way.
Can you back up every single thing your friends tell you?How is it bashing you? By asking you for some proof of the claims you are making? Hey you said this event happened. I asked you to provide some proof, any proof at all. The silence is deafening.
Thats not bashing believe it or not.
And before any else says it, yes I am mean spirited and uncharitable. I have been told that many times on this forum, especially by those, like you, who cannot back up the claims you make.
It is not asking for proof that is the bashing – it is your assumption when proof you deem good enough is not present that is the bashing. How is it bashing you?
