You are apparently giving the Democratic Party almost Vatican-like status here, not me.You’ll find many more references to the salvific power of Christ, than to social work. But in all fairness, whenever we are prompted in Sacred Scripture to help the poor, it’s in the Name of Jesus… not the Democratic Party. Get it?
Fire and Brimstone is a wonderful reminder to those who abandon Christ for a man-made institution… like the Democratic Party.
“Vatican included”, 'eh? I sure hope that doesn’t include The Holy Father when he speaks ex cathedra. BTW, I happen to kind of like “fancy gold chalices and perfect rubrics”. So does The Holy Father. So does Jesus. After all… Catholicism is the Church HE founded. And you know what they say about The Gates of Hell, don’t you? Also, speaking of “fallible human-made and run institutions”, does that include “Catholic Democrats of California”?
What organization are you talking about? “Catholic Democrats” or CUF?
PS, no condemnation for the Democratic Party advocating slaughtering millions upon millions of un-born children? So much for your much touted “working for the betterment of those who have less”. Or have your revisionist friends worked their verbal gymnasicts on you already on that particular point?
Fire and Brimstone represent a religion inspired by fear, not of love towards others. Anything built on fear has a weak foundation and will not endure long.
Chalices are a symbol of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, gold plating came about later by the Roman Empire influences of the day. Adding gold is not helping the poor, and people have diverse spiritualities, so variances are allowed because of the makeup of the diverse human body of the Church.
Remember, Papal ex cathadra only dates back to Vatican I, 1860’s, and at that time was used as an attack on the office of Pope when it was introduced. It was considered absurd for a person to never be wrong and an insult to the Papal office in Rome.
