True story. It was written by Beach Boy Brian Wilson. He was in a deep state of depression in the 1960s and someone gave him a female Irish Setter and he named her Shannon.

Shannon became his best best friend and pulled him out of his long funk and depression. She got him out of the bed to play and have fun. He use to play with on the beaches in and around Malibu almost everyday.

One day Shannon was on some kind of raft, got caught by the tide or undertoe and was carried out to sea, while Brian watched helpless from the shore, he never saw her again. He never forgot the dog and wrote the song in the her honor.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Oh, I have a sound card just couldn’t get that video to play (I had played plenty of others today - even downloaded the Matt Lauer interview of Ann Coulter and listened to all nine minutes of it.

I didn’t know about the song Shannon either but I have never been much of a music fan so that doesn’t surprise me :D.

I do see it as a compliment though that Guy thinks of sharing something like this with us all - so ShannyK, just step back a minute and think “Guy really must like me to share this”, kind of like the little boy pulling your pony tail thing 👍.

edited to add: I was going to see if I could get the sound to play today and now the link won’t work!

Okay, found out what was wrong. The sound was turned all the way down on the video itself! Will watch it now once it is all downloaded. Oh, and I had to close and re-open firefox to get any links to work! Sheesh, computers, gotta love them!

So weird when I didn’t have to deal with other youtube videos and sound!

Izat the part ya keep singin? I was once riding across Kansas, with the achy breaky stuck in my head. Almost 500 miles of empty plains, all alone, no one on the praries but me as I came across Kansas on forgotten back roads, only the occassional empty town to break the monotony. I was lonely, no one to tawk to, no home cooked meals, zilch. Only thing I had was the achy breaky in my head. By the time I got to Missouri I needed straight jacket.

So I don’t feel sorry for ya, for having “shannon” stuck in your head LOL.

And now that y’all think of ShannyK when you hear Henry Gross then I guess I served my purpose. :rotfl:

My daughter is dancing to Achy Breaky heart in her dance recital, who picks the music for these things…so I get to hear it every week until the end of June!! Tell ya what I’m willing to do for Bama! I’ll PM you Achy Breaky every Tuesday evening, when we get home from dance class:thumbsup:
and still no Sham-Wow for you and I’m telling Vince on you too:p

Oh, okay you can have a snuggie! I’ll let this one go.

I had to order snuggie’s for my dad, he tried but it was automated and he had trouble hearing it. Took me 15 mins and I never spoke to anyone!!

don’t break my heart, my achy breaky heart…awful…'til JUNE I have to listen to this song. But my daughter is pretty darn cute dancing to it!
