I’ve asked about OSAS before, but there’s one point that seems to make no sense. I’m hoping that somone will be able to explain it so it makes sense.

OSAS and murder.

The situation -

A woman accepts Jesus and is born again. She believes, as much as anyone, that she is saved. She has truly accepted Jesus.

The woman hits rock bottom financially when her husband, a ne’er-do-well type loses his job and their life savings because of gambling. She decides to stage an accidental death by setting fire to the house after her husband gets drunk and passes out.

The woman goes to jail and is unrepentant. She admits that she did it, but doesn’t care because the guy was a louse.

The woman is killed in a prison fight, and she dies unrepentant. (We know her mind on this, because the question is about this particular situation–when the person dies unrepentant–not about if we can really know someone’s mind.)

I’m wondering how someone who is assured of her place in Heaven can murder someone and die unrepentant.

How does someone who commits mortal sins and dies unrepentant go to Heaven. We know that nohting unclean can enter Heaven, so how does an unrepentant murder go to Heaven?

If an unrepentant murderer doesn’t enter Heaven, how is it that she accept Jesus and was born again, yet won’t enter Heaven?

If there’s anyone here who beleives that being born again means that they are sure they are going to Heaven, can you please help me understand what that really means?

Thanks. 🙂

You raise an excellent point.

The OSAS adherent will tell you that she was never “saved” in the first place - like they would know.

The plain fact is that OSAS is not supported by the context of Scripture. Many people try to take one verse here or there and build an entire doctrine around it - even though the context of Scripture does not support it or actually condemns it. This is the tradegy of Protestantism in general.

That’s the answer I’ve heard, too. But I’m wondering if somone who believes in the OSAS position can explain it a little better. If people can be mistaken, then how can anyone be sure that they are saved? It makes no sense, so I’m thinking that there’s a better explanation for the belief.

Eternal security of the believer does not give Christians a License to Sin “Do we then make void the law through faith? God Forbid: Yea, We Establish the Law.” -Romans 3:31

To be saved my friend, you MUST come to Christ as a SINNER (1st John 1:8-10). If you are not a sinner, then why would you need a Savior? It would not make any sense at all for a self-righteous person to ask Christ for forgiveness. This is exactly why Jesus said that He DIDN’T come to save the righteous; but to call sinners to repentance. My point is that you must turn from your “good” image of yourself and confess to God your “sinful” condition. The unsaved unrepentant man wants NOTHING to do with God nor His Word When a person repents, whereas they were living in the pleasures of sin away from God, now they are in agreement with God that their sins are woefully wicked and they turn to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of those sins. This is Biblical repentance.

I was watching the news one day and heard something disturbing to me as a Christian. A woman who makes a living as a porn model professed to be a Christian. She said that Adam and Eve were naked in the Garden of Eden and she didn’t see anything wrong with being naked. You see, she was seeking to justifying her evil deeds. We’ll Adam and Eve were the only two people in the world at that time. Mankind has a sinful tendency to rationalize evil into good. Jesus foretold of the time when the unsaved will murder Christians, thinking they are doing God a favor (John 16:2). We are living in apostate times, when pastors are saying it’s ok to be gay. America is going to Hell. Our churches are filled with unsaved religious hypocrites who know not the Lord Jesus Christ. They’ve made commitments to serve God, have joined churches and many claim to have prayed the salvation prayer; but they are as lost as the Devil himself. They’ve never repented, i.e., come to God as a dirty, rotten, hell-deserving sinner in need of the Savior, Jesus Christ. They’ve never trusted upon the name of Jesus, the Christ, to forgive their sins.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48

I too ponder this question and was raised in a Doctrine that supports OSAS. I first do not know if God needs us to have a “repentant” heart in order to call us His children. I think we often look at the Grace of God through our human understanding. I think sometimes the answer is much more simple. Sometimes I think of God’s love for us as our Heavenly Father like the love we as parents have for our children. If I were to adopt a child is it not true that the child is “mine” always? Even if this child were to “turn” on me and reject me as a parent somewhere down a rebellious road, he/she is still my child. I sometimes think that this is how God’s grace works. If I am an adopted child of God, then no matter what I do, I am still His child. I will still have to face my “Father” at the throne of judgement, but I do not lose my heredity. Maybe that is how OSAS works? Of course, it’s sooo much better to live in a relationship with Him all the time, but people are sinners and make mistakes.

Salvation is a relationship with a person the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes what is repentance Change of mind, Change of the direction you are going in. Agreeing with God acording to His Holy Word. If we do what comes naturaly we will die and go to Hell. Its a turn around we can never lose our salvation I am saying If you live in open sin and it does not bother you something is wrong. The bible tells us to (2Cor13:5 )Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Rom 6:12-13
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

What you obey is what you believe, and who you serve.

We are save by grace

repentance is a gift from God

2Tim2:25-26
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if **God peradventure will give them repentance **to the acknowledging of the truth;

And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Acts 5:31 - Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for **to give repentance **to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Acts 11:18 - When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
