Hi, Pat De,
Oh, where to begin…

Your apparent need to start off with insults is intriguing - I guess the biggest intrigue is why are you attacking the Catholic Faith on CAF? Surely there are other outlets for your hostility - especially with like minded individuals.
This is a typical response for those do not put much time or energy into the study and understanding of the Word of God. That is an interesting interpretation of the Word of God above; one I do not believe I have ever heard.
Glad you asked, Pat De!

Based on my understanding of your responses, it would appear that not only do you utilize Sola Scriptura as a principle, you use your own interpretation of God’s Word to come up with the meaning. Now, this is probably going to take you some time … but, since you have an abridged Catholic Bible to work with, I think you can manage…
First of all, you need to make an accurate determination about what is the Foundation of Truth in the Christian religion. The Bible? Hmmmmmmmm… NO! It is the Chruch! Actually, the Chruch founded by Christ - on Peter! And, before you scoff and continue to harden your heart, open your Bible to 1Tim 3:15.
15
But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth.
Now, did members of the Early Church (and, that would be the Catholic Church) practice individual interpretation? NO! Open your Bible to Acts 8:29-36
29
The Spirit said to Philip, “Go and join up with that chariot.”
30
9 Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31
He replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” So he invited Philip to get in and sit with him.
32
This was the scripture passage he was reading: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opened not his mouth.
33
In (his) humiliation justice was denied him. Who will tell of his posterity? For his life is taken from the earth.”
34
Then the eunuch said to Philip in reply, “I beg you, about whom is the prophet saying this? About himself, or about someone else?”
35
Then Philip opened his mouth and, beginning with this scripture passage, he proclaimed Jesus to him.
36
As they traveled along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look, there is water. What is to prevent my being baptized?”
That was the easy part… now, you need to do some serious reading!

Begin with reading John 13, then go to 14 and then to 15 and then to John 16. What you will find is that Christ is talking jsut to His Apostles - there is no crowd of listeners in these chapters. This is an important consideration, because, I do not want you to think a mere verse has been lifted out of context

When you are at John 16 look at v 12-14. Here is what the Catholic Bible says - I bet yours has something very close.
12
"I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
13 But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming.
14
He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Christ is guaranteeing the Promise of God to His Chruch that God will protect His Church from error. There is no implication or even hint that everyone will be free of error - in fact, this is specifically condemned! 2Peter 1:20-21
20
Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation,
21
for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God.
Your approach to scripture (via the Sola Scriptura) is only one of the errors you have demonstrated. Your ‘Once Saved Always Saved’ view has lead to a hubris that is quite singular on CAF. Look at Matt 25 for some of the respnses of those who thought they were saved - and are now before the White Throne.
No where does Scripture state itis the only way - this is the height of a man mad tradition … and, I think you already know how Paul condemns that!

Christ promised the Spirit to His Church (ah, and that is the same Chruch He founded on Peter on Matt 16)
Actually, I think I have met this burden - and now challenge you to stop blathering insults and produce scriptural evidence of the Bible being the sole authority and of people not being able to lose their salvation.
There was already an excellent refutation from Guanophore about your constricted view the Eucharist - which I am sure you have reviewed and are now prayerfull considering. Remember Christ is God - and since He told us that we are to eat His Flesh in order to live - then that is the requirement. God - the Creator of all - has chosen to hide under the form of Bread and Wine - who are we to say He can’t?
God bless
