Tell you what, if you’re hoping to convince anyone, either here or anywhere else, as an evangelist then you’ve a heck of a long way to go.

You don’t appear to care very much about what the ineffably inspired Word of God ACTUALLY says let alone what it means - you just keep throwing out assertions of things that you ‘know’ (from where comes this wondrous ‘knowledge’, might I ask?) together with verses that don’t actually support them at all, in the hope that one of 'em will slip past us. Not likely!
Iam not trying to evangelize you or anyone on this site. You are so dug in you are immovable. The only positive thing I could offer you or anyone else on this site is to force to to open your bible. That is the only positive thing I can offer YOU.
As for me, I am sharpening my skills and learning the scripted answers catholic apologetics are trained with. The people I witness to are no where near as well versed in apologetics as you folks. They also don’t have computers to copy whole pages of church tradition to support their position.
The catholics I run in to on the street are mostly non practicing. They usually have horror stories of their experiences within the church. They don’t go any more and are disallusioned. Those are the people I minister to.

I am not sure if you are truly sharping your skills. If you are, you don’t have to be going in circle - it is more likely you are sharping your heart!

Please soften your heart and show some love and respect The way you come here and discuss with us…doesn’t sound like how you do with others, does it?

Where are they? We wouldn’t mind ministering to them!😃

I’ll give you my interpretation. Ok, newbie, I still got time to write to you so I will. Bear with me.

I believe Onesiphorus is dead that is why Paul is praying to God for his mercy. Though some might say that he isn’t dead. I do agree that Onesiphorus is a very devout Ephesian Christian, and perhaps one of Paul’s closest and dearest friend. When this epistle was written, it is likely that Onesiphorus was killed either by martyrdom.

Another Catholic have similiar interpretation but acknowledges the possibility that Onesiphorus is probably not dead.
Oh No! Please! Not purgatory. There is no way I’m getting into that debacle. I will not discuss purgatory!!!
That being said, I guess there is no sacred tradition that would help either of us make any more clarity on this verse.
i am willing to accept that we don’t really know wheather he was dead or not. Should we investigate further or is the point mute?

We won’t discuss it. If you wish to discuss purgatory, open a new thread. You do know how to open a new thread, don’t ya? 👍

This thread alone contains…who knows how many topics already. Why not adding Purgatory and couple of hundred of topics to it… 😉 👍

It is not easy answering 4 or 5 people at the same time. With each of them claiming I don’t know what I am talking about. And also reading my bible to support my position. Then I hear that I am avoiding all the tough questions. Stressful but I enjoy it. ever sharpening. Right now I have three bibles open in front of me a halleys, concordance and a book by walter martin. intense but it is all for the Glory of God. Amen?

This is my first thead and I didn’t even open this one. I was banished here by a moderator.

What is the big deal about more than one topic on a thread.
All the questions where fired at me. I tried to answer best I could.

I think the catholic church put them in the state they are in.
Think they want more of the same?
The majority of Catholics in America, believe it or not, are caferia Catholics.

They want to remain Catholic but reject all the teachings of the Catholic Church. They are also the one who are poorly catechized. When I say poorly catechized, I mean poorly taught in their Catholic faith.

We’ll keep you in this thread for now until you are properly trained.

newbie, you are improving in your charity a little, so keep on praying to God to keep it that way.

A good Catholic Apologist advises that before discussing into apologetics, the number one thing to do first is pray to the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. So pray to him, and ask him to grant you the spirit of charity, that you may not fall into anger when you are stressed by overwhelming odds. 👍

I went to catholic school and we hardly ever read the bible.
Most of the teaching was about the sacrements
and traditions

And that’s where we can help. After all, Bishop Sheen said that people hate what they “think” is the Catholic Church. If they really know the Catholic Church, they will not hate it. (to paraphrase Bishop Fulton Sheen)

Every section of the Catechism has Bible verses used in the cross references. The Sacraments all have their origins in the Bible. For instance, Holy Communion is in John 6.

I always pray to the Holy Spirit for the right words and verses.I Sometimes I open my bible to the exact verse I need.
Thank you Holy Spirit. And to God be the Glory.
I also pray for boldness insharing my faith.

Please! Don’t get me started on the Sacrements!
You people keep bringing up these topics.
You are just egging me on:rolleyes:

If you manage to convince anyone it says more about their gullibility than the glory of God, the work of the Holy Spirit or any ability on your part either!

??? The verse you need for what? To misguide some poor disenchanted former Catholic as badly as you yourself have been misguided? Even the devil can quote scripture.
That’s very Christ-like talk now.
What would you rather see a disechanted catholic who hates the church, or a vibrant born again Christian filled with zeal and love of his church and thirst for the truth of the scriptures.
I know God would prefer the onfire Christian
