SPLIT: God is one so why use three names to baptize?

This is incorrect. Jesus is a Divine Person, and the Holy Spirit is a separate Divine Person.
Marty, since Jesus is the Holy Spirit
Please, Bar, try to understand this concise reasoning that carries almost 20 centuries of theology:
  • Jesus is the name of the Son of God, of the Incarnate Word. Which is why it is so special in itself, and miracles can be accomplished in the name of Jesus.
  • The Son is equal to the Holy Spirit, but the Son is not the Holy Spirit.
  • While the Son proceeds from the Father only, the Holy Spirit proceeds both from the Father and the Son. In this is the difference between them as Divine Persons.
If I baptize in the name of Jesus, it is the same as saying: I baptize in the name of the Son.

Concerning baptism, baptize thus: having first recited all these precepts, baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, in running water. But if you have no running water, baptize in other water, and if you cannot baptize in cold water, then warm water; but if you have neither, pour water on the head three times in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Before a baptism, let him who baptizes and him who is baptized fast, and any others who may be able to do so. And command him who is baptized to fast one or two days beforehand.

John 4:24 ** God is a Spirit:** and they that worship **Him **must worship in spirit and truth. Notice, not two, God and Spirit, BUT, one! HIM! And the SPIRIT, was in Christ Jesus, and the two Spirits ( Holy Spirit, and the spirit of Christ) became one…!

1 Corinthians 6: 16 Or know ye not that he that is joined to a harlot is one body? for, The twain, saith he, shall become one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Even as Jesus explained about the husband and wife, Not two, but one…

Romans 8: 9 But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that **the Spirit of God **dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (same spirit )

Yes, but just like the husband and wife are one, and just like all Christians are one body in Christ, each person is addressed individually by name unless you refer to the mystical wholeness.

Since Jesus, our Lord, asked us to baptize in the name of the one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that is what we do. Had Christ said: “baptize in my name”, like He said “in my name you will cast out demons”, then we would be allowed to do so.

Sorry, but the Lord doesn’t use ones worldly name, only the name HE has given, which is…“Beloved!” In all our conversations, and lessons given by Him, He has never used my christian name, other than My Son!

Rev. 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh, to him will I give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, which no one knoweth but he that receiveth it. (Guess you haven’t received it yet!)

Secondly Jesus was talking here, to the Jewish believer. No one was as yet * In His Name*/Born of Him/Or filled with His Spirit!
