Suuuuuuuuure she is, that’s why it took until 1950 to authorize her assumption in the record books of hisotry.
Tolstoy isn’t easy reading either. You might miss something. Or Chekov. Or Shakespeare.

The Assumption was more like “proclaimed” since a groundswell of support and belief arose from the faithful for centuries regarding this dogma. Things continue to be realized.
Mediatrix, Adjuditrix, Coredemptrix is next.

That ought to upset a lot of people. Can’t wait.

WHO created all those cannons, dogmas, encyclicals…

Africans or Middle Easterners or Europeans?
canons: Africans
dogmas: we see Catholic dogmas (eucharist, confession to a priest, …) in the 1st and 2nd centuries so it would be Africans, Middle Easterners, Easterners, Europeans.
encyclicals: from bishops that are Africans, Middle Easterners, Easterners, Europeans.

hehehe … you really don’t have much education in this history do you?

I was once a member of this great Church of which you speak.

If I am wrong, and God does exist, my entry into Hell, will only be carrying out his will. For God will be judge and it is God who will sentence me. It is Gods will that I will call Hell my home for infinite.

I will experience an eternity of joy knowing that I am fulfilling Gods will.
You’re right, God will be your judge, not me, but I would like you to know that I don’t think there will be any joy in hell. You are still here on the planet earth though, so there is time for your reconversion. I’ll remember you in my prayers. I think God is awesome!!!

another thought … let’s look at today … there are 1.1 billion Catholics in the world.
Do you still suggest that the bishops in communion with Rome are all white guys?

c’moooooon.

It’s okay. Bring your prejudice to us. We will fix it with knowledge.

I asked her … would you rather be a priest or a saint?

How on earth did they ever get women to join this new crazy religion in the first century?
Priest or Saint…Hmmm, you know, there is option C. 👍

How did they get women to join? Their husbands told them to join, it was a primitive patriarchal society.

Got to go for now, reread all that we’ve given you here, especially that one by CentralFLJames on post 310 about the Blessed Mother, I don’t think I’ve ever even read that one yet.
But I will. 🙂

ha!
it just gets crazier.
what about unmarried women that joined … young or widowed?
those crazy romans were not in a patriarchal society … yet they joined too.

whoever gave you the world view you have, did not do you any favors.

Faulty logic and wrong conclusion. If you land in hell it will be because God respects your gift of freewill and loves you so much that he will not even force you to love him nor for you to suffer to be in His presence for eternity feeling ashamed and resentful of him.

You have no idea what the removal of all grace from a soul does to a person in the afterlife. I have read some of the saints accounts of visions of hell and its not pretty. The only reason humans get along at all - even when in grave sin - is because of God’s actual grace that floods all of Creation. But at death we are no longer in grace except for that which we carry as sanctifying grace in our souls. But if you have no sanctifying grace when you die then a soul becomes demonic and has no organic virtue at all - NONE. That means that in place of where even some infantile or immature virtue once was there are now extreme vices - envy, contempt, hatred, loathing, etc. A soul in heaven’s closest virtue is regretting what it lost. But its not a repentant or contrite sort of rerget - its pure selfish envy of those who gained what it lost. Everything else is contempt and hatred. You really won’t like hell or yourself I am afraid…

not a logical statement at all … i thought you atheist bragged about superior logic.

1 - there is no God - the eternity you mention would not happen
2 - there is a God - the joy you mention would not happen (since you would now know that there is a God and you knowingly rejected Him)

In no way can your sentence make any kind of logical sense.

Cardinal Strich (Archbishop of Chicago 1940–1958) was America’s first Catholic Bishop to head a dicastery of the Roman Curia. He was a very respected man and raised more than a few eyebrows in his day by forbidding American Catholics in his dioceses from being too involved with ecumenical programs since it sent the wrong message.

Samuel Alphonsius Cardinal Stritch (August 17, 1887—May 27, 1958)

It is likely that a man of his high ranking within The Catholic Church that he would have signed off as one of many approving ecclesial authorities on a Catholic Bible published in his day. Various versions and editions of the Douay-Rheims Bible (a classic Catholic Bible) were printed in the United States up until 1947. You might have a valuable bible copy there Ralphy - you should open it and read the publishers information and tell us what version it is.

The Catholic Press,Inc. Chicago. Copyright 1957,1955,1950.Imprimatur Samuel Cardinal Stritch, Archbishop of Chicago.August 2,1955. I believe it’s a Douay. Any value that I would seek would be in its words. Ralph.

God judges and sentences people to hell. The only way a person can get to hell, is if God judges them worthy of hell.

Therefor, it is Gods will that someone goes to hell. If it is Gods will, then the people in hell are carrying out Gods will.

All praise and glory to God, for by his will, souls spend eternity in hell. How could that not be joyous? The souls in hell, they are carrying out Gods will and would be filled with bliss knowing that they are carrying out his divine plan.

This is probably exactly why Jesus left us a Church instead of a Bible, why don’t you try to realize this truth? The Bible was written by the Church for the Church.
My friend that is a very odd thing to say “God left us a church instead of a bible”. Don’t you know that God the Holy Spirit inspired the writing of the bible. And do you know what the church is made up of. It’s not a denomination of any sort, it’s the body of Christ, those who are saved and belong to Him make up His church. The ROMAN catholic church is a different thing. Catholic means universal. When He comes back for His church, only those who belong to the body of Christ will go with Him. Ralph

You really won’t like hell or yourself I am afraid…

Nonsense. God is benevolent. God would never create a bad place to send his children.

Besides, even if Hell was real, just by being there, your carrying out a part of Gods grand plan and just knowing that your carrying out Gods will, would be a joyous affair.

How can you suggest that carrying out Gods will, would be anything but glory and wonder?

I suggest you read these about the Mystical Body of Christ.

oce.catholic.com/index.php?title=Mystical_Body_of_the_Church

(I looked them up on the search engine on the home page of this site, I typed in Mystical Body of Christ)

Jesus only founded ONE Church, and if you read the above you have learned the four chief marks of the Church, ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC and APOSTOLIC.

I also suggest you read the following thread.
forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=319903&page=3

…and as it says, that is just a start.

and of course I know that God, the Holy Spirit inspired holy men to write and compile the Books of the Bible, Sacred Scriptures. In His Church that He founded, we have the Liturgy of the Word and Jesus Himself, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, in the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

His Church existed before the Sacred Scriptures were compiled into a Book that we call the Holy Bible.

Nonsense yourself. Lots of utterly benevolent people create jails, psychiatric hospitals, other hospitals, hospices for the terminally ill. Those who are in such places certainly (for the most part) have no joy in being there.

At the same time, for the most part these joyless prisoners and patients realise fully that they are carrying out the will of their benevolent parents or benevolent judges or benevolent doctors that they be there.

Bah, God is awesome. If God is awesome, and I’m carrying out his awesome will, then whatever it is I’m doing, has to be awesome.

If it’s from God, it’s awesome.

You are correct God would never create a bad place to send his children. But what you don’t understand is that we are Satan’s children coming into this world and God’s children only by adoption and not all want to be adopted. The rules are different in hell than they are in heaven I am afraid.

The buzzards and cow-dung flies do God’s will too - but its not exactly the higher order job-title… 😃

Weird, so God chooses where, when and to whom we will be born and of course, God is completely responsible for our creation in the womb and subsequent birth.

Yet, uhm, your saying that we are actually the spawn of Satan?

Hmmm…are you sure that’s a Catholic teaching, because I’m pretty sure that Catholics don’t teach that we are SATANS CHILDREN. :bigyikes:

We are born with original sin and the Church teaches the necessity for baptism.

We are not born completely evil - but we most definitely are born with a damaged nature that estranges us from God. Adults dieing without baptism in one of 3 forms (water, by desire or by blood) to our best knowledge go to hell. We hope that unbaptised children dieing before the age of reason are given a special divine mercy since they have no personal sin - but the scriptures are clear about the need for baptism and the need for redemption right out of the womb.
