Incidentally, I happened to be reading the Scriptures for today and came upon this:
So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called.
He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,”
and all were amazed.
Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed,
and he spoke blessing God.
It appears that when Zechariah, of his own free will, decided to COOPERATE with God’s will he was then given freedom to speak again.
If Zechariah had decided, of his own free will to write, “His name shall be Zechariah”, in opposition to the will of God, there is no doubt that he would have remained mute, no?
Thus, it is only when we COOPERATE with God’s will that we are saved. If someone, of his own free will, decides to be obdurate, well, then, he remains mute (this is a metaphor, Sig.)
