The Catechism is distillation of the Catholic Church’s 2,000-year experience with human nature and behavior, but your generation comes along now and claims to know the real truth? Gimme a break.

To avoid appearing uncharitable, Christians must now not only tolerate evil, but they must fund it and validate it as well.
2000 years is just a tiny chunk of human existence compared to what the scientific world knows.

There is more than one way to define natural law. What the catechism says is not the only viewpoint. Whether or not one believes that is a different matter, but just because every word I say doesn’t align with the catechism doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m talking about.
Here, regarding the issue of “womenpriests,” our friend peduzzi says:
Well, what I am saying is, if it is not in the bible, but only tradition, why couldn’t it be open to change? Now that we are in a time where women have equal rights and are seen as equals…but if it is in the bible, then whatev then. I’m not sure why I’m that concerned anyway since** I don’t really identify with the catholic religion**. I guess I was just trying to understand the reasoning.
There’s someone who understands what Sacred Tradition is in the Catholic worldview (vs. informal “tradition”), and someone who understands what natural law is and is not. Yep.
😃

(Your saying that it’s just because they want to)=subject of sentence

It’s your saying of that phrase that I’m modifying with is ____

If it were someone else’s saying of it, it would be “his saying”, or “my saying”
The ironclad rule - no exceptions - is that if you’re able to replace the word with “you are,” you’re saying you’re. Otherwise, your only choice is your.

And your [sic] saying it’s just because they want to is just so useless and asinine!

And your are saying its just=you are able to replace the word your with you are. You used the wrong word. Don’t try to defend the indefensible and I mean that in more than one way.

Wow! I am trying to put this kindly but it sounds like a child’s answer “do too” . Of course it is only your opinion. You do not provide documentation of your statements what else could it be but an opinion.
I don’t need documentation to prove that there are trees in backyard. Why? Because I see them. Just like I see, with my own two eyes, how gay families benefit society just as much as their straight counterparts.

Then you won’t need any documentation to see that the plumbing does not work.

You could share with us about the substance and accidents of those trees.

You want it to be so because you identify as a homosexual. But wanting it to be so does not make it so. There is no comparable benefit to society in a same-sex household as there is from a heterosexual household. Lacking one gender, the relationships are imbalanced, and in that respect alone are unhealthy for any children artificially produced through the many varieties of utilitarian fornication, sperm banks, and egg donation, or even via adoption. They can categorically and qualitatively never bring to society what traditional marriage is capable of. No amount of posing as one sex or the other cuts it. No amount of denying that a mother is not a father, or that Two Mommies or Two Daddies is equivalent to a mother and a father, will change that: they are just verbal gymnastics.

Those who have indeed read & understood the Catechism appreciate the Church’s absolute stand on the uncompromisable differnces between males and females. However, as you said in the post I quoted,
I don’t really identify with the Catholic religion
😉

You can keep repeating that but that doesn’t mean you’re right. That “ironclad” rule you state leaves out one important factor - if you can replace it with “you are” AND NOT CHANGE THE MEANING. Then it’s you’re. There are many cases where either could be used based on the meaning of the sentence. Me saying you’re in that sentence would actually make it grammatically incorrect.

I asked my uncle whether your or you’re is correct (without telling telling him which sentence was mine so as to prevent bias) and he said “your” is. He’s a sterling professor of English at a highly rated University.

The quote that you took from the other thread is quite old and I have developed my knowledge greatly since then. But you’re right, I don’t identify as being catholic anymore.

I was referring to the economic benefits to society, which is what the state takes an interest in. There are far too many alternatives household styles for the state to be concerned with making a statement about what the best way to raise children is. What you’re raising is a topic for a different thread which, in the Catholic church, may be settled, but for the rest of the world is still very much in contention.

Your sentence can be changed without changing the meaning. Not only doesn’t it change the meaning but it is followed by a by the present participle saying (verb form ending in -ing).

Telling me that your uncle said so only indicated that the university hired someone who was unqualified for the position.

But something else comes to mind. How did you show him? Does he live with you? Did you call him?
There are three ways to ascertain a lie
1 would the person know what he is talking about
2. would the person lie to you
3 can you check it out

An anonymous uncle fails the three checks.

Please see my most recent post as I believe Elizabeth and I were referring to different benefits to society. What I said is that 2 households with the same number of children and who are otherwise the same other than that one has a straight couple as parents and one has a gay couple as parents can provide the same economic benefits to society. Whether or not such is best for children is, in fact a matter of opinion about which I was not making an unproven blanket statement.

Negative behaviors have economic costs.

Don’t make the argument like NYC recently did that they had an economic effect to the city of 230M dollars because they legalize same sex so-called marriage. To be fair we must factor in all the costs as well and see how it nets out.

Also, every human being either contributes or costs society. Chosen behaviors are the issue here.

Didn’t you say it was rude to assume someone hadn’t read something?
What you answered was
Yes they do…that’s not an opinion.
My objection was your statement that it was fact(implied) not an opinion.
