you’re right, I don’t identify as being catholic anymore.
Then you need to change your profile.

At the tender age of 16, I had a teacher who said nobody has had an original thought. One student challenged him with what he thought was his original thought. The teacher told him to go research it in the school library, and he did. A few days later, he came back with his head down in humbleness and admitted the ancient Greeks thought of it 2,500 years ago. The trouble with your generation is that it thinks it has had all kinds of original thoughts and that if an idea is old, it must be wrong. If you think that making sodomy respectable is something new, I suggest you research out the history of the idea.2000 years is just a tiny chunk of human existence compared to what the scientific world knows.
I have in my lock box a document issued in 1998 that says “Marriage License” at the top. Should I send it back and ask for a Civil Union license? By your argument, this document must be in error. What the State has the authority to do is acknowledge Civil Unions.
Oh! Thanks for letting me know. I was confused and thought it was a petition in support of the gay couple.Holly, the petition in the OP was a petition in support of the Archdiocese’s action prohibiting the publishing of the announcement.
Is this poster a fraud? His profile says he is Catholic. Here, regarding the issue of “womenpriests,” our friend peduzzi says:
There’s someone who understands what Sacred Tradition is in the Catholic worldview (vs. informal “tradition”), and someone who understands what natural law is and is not. Yep.

I emailed him-that works real quickYour sentence can be changed without changing the meaning. Not only doesn’t it change the meaning but it is followed by a by the present participle saying (verb form ending in -ing).
Telling me that your uncle said so only indicated that the university hired someone who was unqualified for the position.
But something else comes to mind. How did you show him? Does he live with you? Did you call him?
There are three ways to ascertain a lie
1 would the person know what he is talking about
2. would the person lie to you
3 can you check it out
An anonymous uncle fails the three checks.
Just because the church says a behavior is negative doesn’t mean it has economic costs.Negative behaviors have economic costs.
Don’t make the argument like NYC recently did that they had an economic effect to the city of 230M dollars because they legalize same sex so-called marriage. To be fair we must factor in all the costs as well and see how it nets out.
Also, every human being either contributes or costs society. Chosen behaviors are the issue here.
Ok, I made my profile a long time ago and forgot that it even said that. Jeez, don’t accuse me of lying and being a fraud. Let me figure out how to change it.Is this poster a fraud? His profile says he is Catholic.
The church has a lot of aggregated wisdom on this. Negative behaviors have more than economic costs.Just because the church says a behavior is negative doesn’t mean it has economic costs.
Cool. Go to the profile tab → control panel → edit your details.Ok, I made my profile a long time ago and forgot that it even said that. Jeez, don’t accuse me of lying and being a fraud. Let me figure out how to change it.
It still says “Catholic,” and you’ve logged in and posted since this post above. People do have a right to know your current faith or lack of it because it affects what their replies will be to you. It gives them background with which to respond to you.Ok, I made my profile a long time ago and forgot that it even said that… Let me figure out how to change it.
So are you saying that you are not Catholic but put that erroneously in your post or that you ARE Catholic but wish to be identified otherwise on the internet?Ok, I made my profile a long time ago and forgot that it even said that. Jeez, don’t accuse me of lying and being a fraud. Let me figure out how to change it.
Corki, he said that his religious affiliation as Catholic was part of a profile he created long ago; When challenged, he agreed (he said in another post) that he no longer actually identifies with Catholicism. Then he claimed that somehow he needs time to “figure out how to change it [the religious affiliation on his profile].” I just demonstrated how easy it is, and I didn’t grow up speaking cyberlanguage as he did. And since the time he claimed he needs time to figure out how to edit a profile, he has posted elsewhere several times. So are you saying that you are not Catholic but put that erroneously in your post or that you ARE Catholic but wish to be identified otherwise on the internet?
Thanks for catching me up. So, he’s a Catholic that wants to have another religion designated in his profile so he doesn’t appear to be hypocritical when posting against the Church. Gotcha!Corki, he said that his religious affiliation as Catholic was part of a profile he created long ago; When challenged, he agreed (he said in another post) that he no longer actually identifies with Catholicism. It seems like the petition to support Archbishop Lucas has been removed (the other one is still there). Two graduates of Marian Catholic High School, an all-female Catholic high school in Omaha, Nebraska, were “married” in Iowa, and, according to the news articles on the story, were approached by a staff member from Marian to publish their “wedding announcement” in the alum newsletter. The Archdiocese blocked the publishing of such an announcement as the Catholic Church does not recognize same-sex unions as a marriage (or the active homosexual lifestyle as moral).
The same-sex couple is upset that their “marriage” is not being published in the newsletter and started an online petition, asking the Archdiocese to allow their “celebration” into the newsletter. At the time this message is being posted, their online petition has 1804 signatures. (You can view their petition here: signon.org/sign/get-lizz-and-katies-wedding)
Various news sources picked the story up as well:

As you can imagine, the “news” coverage of a Catholic Archdiocese refusing to publish a same-sex couple’s wedding announcement has been very one-sided. A petition in support of the Archdiocese of Omaha has started, and I ask that you consider signing in solidarity with other faithful Catholics in support of Archbishop George Lucas. If you support Archbishop Lucas’ decision to stop the printing of a lesbian couple’s “wedding” in the alum newsletter of their Catholic high school, please visit the following link, add your name to the signatures, and pass on the link to others: signon.org/sign/we-support-the-archdiocese?source=s.em.mt&r_by=5153286
Thank you, and God bless Archbishop Lucas for his faithful leadership!
When someone questioned your % above–your reply was to ask for a rebuttal. However, I think you should first cite a source for your %. It would appear to simply be a number you drew out of a hat–in which case there is really nothing to rebutt.I would venture to say that 90% of our country’s population has committed sodomy so involving it in the same sex marriage debate is useless.
In post #96, the creator of the petition said that she removed the petition due to SignOn site’s connection to MoveOn.org. However, she said she first printed out all of the names and mailed them to the archbishop. It seems like the petition to support Archbishop Lucas has been removed (the other one is still there).
Well, if by that you mean that the data is not sufficient, I agree. The political climate makes it almost impossible right now to ascertain the effect of the collapse of the tradition family. We are just now understanding the consequences of sudden change in the divorce laws in the early ‘70s. In the black community, the monogamous family is rare. Bastardy is rampant, and almost certainly it is the lack of fathers which has contributed to the number of young black men in jail. Even in white middle class society the number of stable families is falling, and many do not bother to marry, because co-habitation without marriage has become generally accepted. Charles Murray’s coming apart shows one consequence is the disappearance of the middle class, because children are raised without the “values” needed to succeed in society. Asceticism is scorned, although deferred gratification is necessary to economic success. The quote that you took from the other thread is quite old and I have developed my knowledge greatly since then. But you’re right, I don’t identify as being catholic anymore.
I was referring to the economic benefits to society, which is what the state takes an interest in. There are far too many alternatives household styles for the state to be concerned with making a statement about what the best way to raise children is. What you’re raising is a topic for a different thread which, in the Catholic church, may be settled, but for the rest of the world is still very much in contention.
