We’re not exaggerating, just showing where all this leads. It seems harmless, but it’s not because of the mentality it breeds.

Short hair on women a personal choice? If she doesn’t mind looking like a man, but again, it encourages the lesbian agenda because it’s a butch look. I just about beat my sister the other week. I asked her to trim two inches of my hair.
SNIP “Oops.” Not the most comforting words. Hair that was just above my bottom is about 5-6 inches shorter. If she weren’t my sister she would’ve seen a very manly outburst involving my fist and her arm.

The Scriptures not proving this. We’re not obedient to all men, just our husbands, BUT what else do the Scriptures say? They are not just showing the relationship between a man and his wife, but it talks about her duties - the family. Not working, not campaigning, not sports.

I HIGHLY recommend reading The Apostolate of Holy Motherhood. The visions of the Blessed Mother with the Christ Child to a woman who chooses to remain anonymous - “Mariamante.” They speak to her of the duties of a wife and mother and…you just have to read it, it’s excellent.

what might you tell to a woman whose husband was laid off? whose husband is on disability and he cannot work? should they be homeless? what might you tell a young girl…don’t bother getting an education, you don’t need one? should young women not be educated? i will check out the book you receommend though. I am not a feminist by any stretch–but really, there is nothing in the Bible against women working outside the home…I think that if one puts career over family–EITHER GENDER–that is wrong. Not all working women are power hungry feminists. We just need to be mindful that family comes first…and nothing should come above that.

I think this is the most sensible post yet. I agree…really, a private school can do whatever it chooses.

This brings up a whole separate issue. What kind of education are we talking about? What things are there to be learned? Why is education limited to “institutionalized” education?

Bishop Sheen once pointed out the similarities between the methods of modern college professors and the serpent in the garden.

I’ve had to re-educate myself at my own expense on my own time in order to de-program myself from the wrong-headed thinking that was promoted in my schooling from Grade School through college.

The colleges today are cesspools of depravity and they are intellectually dishonest. There is a cult of “education” at work that has no bearing on learning and performance.

There are some people who do not have a calling to religious life (or priesthood if they are male), but never meet anyone to marry. They need to work to support themselves.

I call out, but don’t really yell much. I have slip-ups like anyone; I’m only human.

Running - that just went along with sports related activities.

I do have a problem with shorts and pants on women. I wear pants to work - I have to walk there at night and go through a large parking lot and a few dark streets in a neighborhood that has had many police visits. Wearing a skirt will only make me a target, not to mention that hitching it up in order to break into a run will only make impure pursuers pick up the pace.

Skirt lengths - knee-length skirts are to attract attention to the legs. Eyes then move easily up the legs to… All my skirts come to just a couple inches above the ground (my personal preference). Last I heard the proper length was no more than 8 inches above the ankle, or below the knee. Don’t quote me on that last statement, I’m not entirely sure.

I’m not saying there aren’t exceptions because there are. Every rule has an exception. Look at Judith in the Old Testament. And St. Joan of Arc. Exceptions have turned into the norm, and things only get worse from there.

Again, exceptions. Of course the family shouldn’t starve, but a woman should work in a manner befitting a woman. Teaching or nursing. Education may be needed depending on how far up the ladder you wish to go. If a woman decides to become a consecrated virgin, or just remain celibate the rest of her life (outside an Order) then she will have to work. We need teachers, good teachers with morals. God made women to be teachers (of children) and caretakers, it’s what we do best. Becoming teachers, day care-providers (unfortunately there is a need here), CNAs, LPNs, simple NARs, in-home care providers, nursing home assistants…Christian work that is feminine, and God will surely bless it. Being totally on my own, the bills don’t pay themselves. If I weren’t Catholic I’d choose another occupation, hehehehe, but that’s not the case, so I stick with the feminine work.

Women with same-sex attraction, who have some sort of autism spectrum disorder, or have a physical disability generally can’t fit into these binary categories. What are they to do then? Sit around and get welfare because women shouldn’t work outside of the house?

What other state is there? Although EWTN isn’t as traditional as I’d prefer, most conservative Catholics love it. That was where I heard it phrased as incomplete. I have only ever heard extreme liberals refer to the single life as a calling. I would assume that the nuns said “single” meaning consecrated to God (if permantly single).

Not every one is the type who can be a caretaker. I am an analytical type of person. I prefer working with numbers, facts, figures, equipment, not with other people, especially not in a hospital or school setting.

Just curious. Who determined what is proper length?

Is it in the Catechism?

Has an encyclical been issued?

Is there a particular Bible verse?

Has one of the Vatican’s bureaus issued a report?
