Would you like to see the outcome of the meeting on the 23rd of March result in a reconciliation with Rome?

I voted yes because we should all want sinners to come back into the fold. SSPX will be welcomed back if they admit their mistakes, apologise, are truly repentent and submit to the Pope.

I also voted yes. There is nothing more I’d like to see than this
potential reconciliation!

I can’t believe there is one ‘no’ vote!

What’s wrong with people? What could possibly be wrong with reconciling with our brothers and sisters in the SSPX? Reconciling is one of the chief beliefs of our faith. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Well, lets not say shame. Everyone is entitled to their opinion for sure. I posted this to see what everyone would say about a possible reconciliation, there are alot of SSPX supporters out there. Not everyone likes the SSPX. But, that being said, I would really love
to see a reconciliation happen,. and pray for a very positive outcome on the 23rd.

I totally concur with this.

Hi Marilena,

I would like to see it happen. I have no doubt it reconciliation will happen one day. However, as someone who has supported and followed the Society of Saint Pius X for a considerable length of time, I see any means of reconciliation a long way off right now.

I believe the Society of Saint Pius X would make any attempt at reconciliation easier, if they were more open to discussion with the Vatican. Having said that, the Vatican must show that it is serious about reconciliation. Reconciliation is a two way thing.

Blessings,

Reconciling the SSPX with Rome would be a very good thing indeed. Of course, I would continue to support the FSSP’s efforts in this neck of the woods. However, one more Traditional order in the fold would be a very positive development. If this happens on 23rd March, or 7th April, or whenever, so much the better.

I’ve never been to the one SSPX church in our city, although I used to pass by it once a week on my way to a volunteer activity in that area of the city. It’s an old building in an older neighbourhood, not much to look at architechturally to be honest, although its inner appearance may be quite a different matter. I can safely assume there is no free-standing marble altar precluding the high altar inside of it. 😃

Am I mistaken? I thought you gave up posting for lent. Regardless, welcome back.🙂
Couldn’t take it, went into serious withdrawls, this is my only really intellectual stimulation at this point.

I would absolutely love to see a reconciliation. I think the people who vote “no” are probably SSPX members themselves, and I think that is sad. If I am wrong - then please correct me.

Reconciliation would be awesome, just awesome. The more I read about SSPX, the more I understand their frustrations and the more I understand why the Church is in the position it is in today. Look at the results, traditionalism is flourishing. It’s clear to me that wherever there is orthodoxy, there is fervent Catholicism. The orthodox seminaries are full and growing. The liberal ones are going the other way. Would love to see every Church with at least one TLM every Sunday. Then watch which mass gets the greater attendance over time. IMO, the SSPX will only help bring people back to Church.

Does anyone know if I can get a TLM for my wedding if my Church is not currently celebrating the TLM? Wow would that make me a happy guy! I hesitate to indulge in such a fantasy.

Simply ask your diocese where they hold an approved Latin Mass. Then meet with the priest there, and take it from there 🙂
Best wishes to you and yours! 👍

**I am either a Una Voce or SSPX [both legitimate Traditionalist Roman Catholic groups as far as I know] person and I do support their reconciliation. They felt obligated to be apart from the Pope because the Novus Ordo was so disgusting to them and they felt it offended Christ. I feel the same way.

Now that the Church is trying to restore the liturgy, a reconciliation is due and these two socieites shouldn’t see a need to continue existing unless further problems had arisen [which I’m hoping won’t EVER be the case].

As childish as it is, I’d like to hop up and down with a hip hip hooray! for the restoration. Its slowly happening at the Church I attend and I’m loving the Latin and Gregorian Chanting, and other wonderful treasures of the old Mass.

The Novus Ordo was disgusting to them and they felt it offended Christ?!?! And YOU feel the same way? You “traditionalists” are always going on about Trent. The Council of Trent said this:“If anyone says that the ceremonies, vestments and outward signs, which the Catholic Church uses in the celebration of Masses, are incentives to impiety rather than the services of piety:** let him be anathema.”** (Session XXII, canon 7, Denz. 954.).

Further, the SSPX are in schism. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have to be reconciled, would they?
