So now I have this mental picture of Bishop Fellay, lashed like the captain of the Demeter to the wheel of a listing, leaking boat- mast and rudder broken, perhaps on fire- desperately trying to sail it into the docks at Civitavecchia, while the crew and passengers leap off right and left.
That being said totally whimsically, of course!
