Also, while worship was in Hebrew even though Jews spoke Aramaic, they were conversant in Hebrew. It was more than just a liturgical language.
Agreed. My point was that they wouldn’t use Aramaic in the temple, even though it was the popular tongue. And, for that matter, they spoke Latin, which would have been how Christ spoke to Augustus.

Doesn’t sound like an error to me. 😛

No, there is a bias against those who can not follow the rules they agreed to when they signed up. I hope no one here holds it against all traditionalists thinking they always break the rules and are disobedient to all authority.

Open criticism and discussion of moderator action is what got the post deleted.

Ryan, I liked your defense of worshipping in the sacred liturgical language of the church. Even in Christ’s day, although he spoke Aramaic, liturgical worship was in Hebrew.

I’d be interested in knowing what, in your opinion, specifically needed reform from the Mass (using the 1962 book) and what negative affect it was having on Catholicism prior to 1960?
Of course I didn’t experience Catholicism before the Council so I can’t speak from experience. But i’m told that the Mass had pretty much turned into the private actions of the priest and the congregation where just bystanders watching the show. I still see that in the Latin Mass community here in Arkansas, where no body actively participates in anything. They don’t even sing with the choir, which could seriously use the help 😛 . I think reforms such as the dialogue Mass and the propers in the vernacular would help out tremendously. I like the idea of the 3 year cycle of readings so we get more exposure to the Scriptures. I do not understand the drastic and more primitive changes in the prayers. There is definately a need for a “reform of the reform”.

Yes. On the other hand, that was the Jews, not us. Paul asked those who attempted to make Christianity into a Jewish religion why they tried to put a yoke upon their necks that they or their fathers could not endure. Jesus told the Pharisees that when they converted one to Judaism they made him twice the son of hell they were.
