I am really perplexed by this too. I was talking to one of our priests here in Brooklyn who said that St. Francis Xavier has always been known to promote the gay agenda. Nothing new at this church at all. This priest, who is a Paulist priest, told me that his church, St. Paul’s in Manhattan, is #2 in this area, something he is not happy about. But I don’t understand Archbishop Dolan. I watched the video and he looked perplexed as these 2 gay groups were being introduced at the Mass, but smiled when it was said that they had “returned to the Sacraments.” I’m hoping that means that he thought they have left the gay lifestyle, which, unfortunately, is not what it meant. I’ve seen Archbishop Dolan in person, and he is a wonderful person and very devout, wonderful bishop. Every message I have heard from him and what I’ve read has always been very orthodox. I can only guess that he is working behind the scenes with this parish. At least I hope so.

We have some absolutely wonderful and devout priests and churches here in NYC, and then there are these kind of churches. Sigh.

I watched the video and he looked perplexed as these 2 gay groups were being introduced at the Mass,
He looked perplexed? How could he possibly be perplexed? Most of the people in the parish were adorned in rainbow garments. He knew what was happening and (as already established) could not have been surprised in the least. I saw his look as one of “intense concentration” - a look he likes to use a lot.

There is absolutely no way he could have been deluded. As wisdomseeker said, he is a smart man and not naive at all. He wouldn’t have climbed the ranks to the position he is in if he weren’t.

The CNN video clearly shows the woman who spoke of her partner on the communion line with a rainbow stole around her neck! Her, and many many others. These attempts to portray Dolan as being duped into thinking these LBG’s have embraced chastity, repented, and returned to the sacraments as good-standing Catholics is blind foolishness.

Please don’t make it any easier for those trying to destroy the Church to succeed because of our refusal to believe the evil flaunted before our eyes.

where is the Vatican in all this? where is the excommunication?
👍

This is what I wonder every day I watch one of Michael Vorris’s video’s. He is a modern day John the Baptist. A voice crying out in the wilderness.

God Bless him.

👍

it is never too late. but do you really think that these people are going to repent from anything? they dont think they are doing anything wrong. how can they repent? it is such a blasphemy to even contemplate about Jesus being involved in such a thing. a cross with a rainbow? where is the Vatican in all this? where is the excommunication?
Excommunication would cause too much scandal  The gay community and groups like GLADD would jump all over this and promote more anti-Catholic bigotry.

I agree, a lot of people don’t like him, but give him respect because he looks like a good Catholic that is just has tired as most of us on these abuses, the only difference is that he is actually taking it to the people.

As I stated on another thread I urge people to write letters or email to those Bishops and priest who do something orthodox and get branded as an “anti-modernist” to show that they have our support.

It’s funny because if you look at both the videos on Youtube you will see me agruing against some of these people, the I got blocked on one of them. Then last week I sent that link to real cathoilc tv, so I think they got the message and made a vortix on it 👍
Good for you! Some don’t like the expose of Voris, but I for one, am grateful! So MUCH harm and confusion is being done; how many with weak faith and little true knowledge will think these kinds of antics are somehow reversing authentic Church teaching?

would cause too much scandal? and just what you think this parish is doing to teh CC? accepting sins into the Church? how do you think this is helping the Church? would be better to face the persecution than shy from the Truth. do you not see the confusion this is causing to the world? how is the Church supposed to condemn these sins when she is accepting just like the world is. do you not see that the world can use this against the Church?

Perhaps I can shed some light and a potentially more charitable explanation for things here.

I lived in the Milwaukee Archdiocese during the Weakland years, so I’m rather familiar with what a heterodox bishop looks like. I watched my own baby boomer generation mother go from a generally orthdox catholic to a Weaklandite while she studied at Milwaukee’s seminary for an MDiv.

Believe me, Dolan is no Weakland. The Weaklandites HATED him when he came to Milwaukee. The reason he was successful there was that he won people over with love, not a big stick. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t lead. He closed the disasterous Milwaukee Seminary and diocesan seminarians now go to rather more catholic seminaries. He very slowly and gently reins things in. He gives people enough rope that they hang themselves and he takes a long time issuing gentle corrections so that over a period of time it becomes VERY clear to all which side is inventing their own religion and which one is Catholic. You watch what happens at that parish. He will gently expose them for fools over a period of years instead of making “martyrs” of them with episcopal power.

Do not confuse a gentle and slow pastoral style of leadership with apostasy. Archbishop Burke, formerly of St. Louis was the hero of many champions of orthodoxy, but for all his theological correctness, he really didn’t bring many stray sheep back into the fold. And that’s the REAL goal here, isn’t it?

Go ahead and criticize if you like, but be charitable. You may not have the whole story.

I hope everyone watched the above video carefully. First they interview a parishioner and she says, “We are living the truth of Jesus…I can be fully who I am there in RELATIONSHIP with my partner!”

Then they interview the pastor who says something to the affect that St. Francis is not promoting promiscuity. Not promoting promiscuity? Well, I certainly hope not, but does this then mean that a sexual relationship with a same-sex partner is okay (as long as it isn’t promiscous?)

Holy Mary, Mother of God, please pray for our priests, our bishops, the Church and protect our Holy Catholic Faith.

Uh, relax a l little, you and I have been following this since it was posted on other posts and you can be safe to say that I am totally against this. I would agree to excommunication, no doubt about it, but I was informing the other poster why the Church will not excommunicate, because some of her Bishops don’t want to excersise their authority.

Hhmmm very interesting, perhaps you may be right on this one. Before he came along I don’t think anyone outside of New York knew about this parsish and the wrong practices, and now we’ve all seen it on CNN and Youtube. I hope you are right about Dolan, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but again we’ve been betrayed by a couple of Bishops in this country.

manualman: Thank you for sharing your views. It is always good to hear others’ experiences. I guess I just can’t see the logic in slowly and gently giving people enough rope to hang themselves in cases such as this one at SFX. In certain areas of life, yes, this can be an effective method; but how can a Catholic Archbishop sit by (literally) while Jesus Himself is being desecrated?

If any of us wandered into the church that day as a tourist and sat in a pew, most of us would be horrified and outraged and would not be able to sit there. Further, we would feel the urgent need to contact someone at the Archdiocese and parish to express our very legitimate concerns and anger. There is such a thing as just anger and when a bishop comes upon a parish like SFX - he should have lots of it.

As a New Yorker, I know full well the absolute disgust that is the Pride parade. A bishop who does not forbid any and all association with the parade is suspect. A bishop who lets that parade’s mentality overtake a sacred church is suspect. It’s like walking into a pornographic movie and seeing “this film has, in part, been brought to you by the proud parishioners of St. Francis Xavier.”

How can Dolan lead effectively when he’s not putting God first? As Mother Angelica said on this week’s show, “Stand up for Jesus. If you’re not willing to fight for Him, who *are *you willing to fight for?”

Dolan comes off as more of a public relations spin doctor than a man of the cloth.

And Tigg - you’re right. This congregation is perverting the Gospel and the words of Jesus - and they have been told they are “prophetic” in doing this. No, God will not change His Mind on active homosexuality or women’s ordination. The congregation needs to be told they are not, in fact, more prophetic than Jesus.

Great points about Archbishop Dolan…correct me if I am wrong, but I heard on Catholic radio that St Louis has the most 24 hrs Eucharistic adoration chapels in the US and many of those opened while Bishop Dolan was a aux Bishop there.

All I have to say is that some of the bishops around here need some help…
