Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am currently undergoing the 33-day path to Total Consecration reccommended by St Louis de Monfort. I expect to consecrate myself on December 8th. However, I do have some questions that I would like anyone here familiar with the practice to clear up for me.
  1. Regarding the Act of Consecration itself, must it be recited in Church, or can it be done at home after Mass? Do I need to write the Act down and sign it as St. Louis reccommends?
  2. Given that St. Louis tells us that we should consecrate ourselves daily after the Act itself, what prayers should we use? Miraculous Medal prayer, Daily Offering to Jesus through Mary?
  3. I know that many people have questions concerning the nature of our prayer life after the Consecration. Can I just pray to the Virgin without specifically mentioning all my intentions, knowing that She is my Mistress and as such has complete power over my soul, its needs, and its desires? Or is it correct to state that I should, in any case, still pray for the Poor Souls, and for other people as well as for myself, just as long as I bear in mind that my requests are completely subject to her and hence may not necessarily reach the ears of Our Lord if they are not pleasing to Her? If the reader has already Consecrated him/herself, can he/she explain to me how their prayer life has changed compared to before, if at all?
  4. Wouldn’t praying to other Saints be pointless after the Consecration since Mary is our intercessor and, after the Act, the owner of our souls? Why would we need other intercessors if our prayer reaches Jesus most perfectly through Mary?
Thank youuuu you are amazing for taking the time to reply to this

  1. Do it whenever and wherever. You don’t have to write it down. You can just say the Act of Consecration.
  2. Whatever prayer you want.
  3. The one in bold. Your prayers become more fruitful after you consecrate yourself. Your prayers are surely to be answered after you are consecrated.
  4. You are still encouraged to pray to other saints. Other saints still pray for you. You just now have a special place in Our Lady’s heart. A saint can still help you, even if you are still consecrated to Our Lady.
Good luck on your consecration! God bless! :blessyou:

Consecrated To the Immaculate Heart on the Feast of the Assumption, 2013!

Thanks for both the questions and the answers 🙂 I too am preparing for the consecration on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Dear Friend,

I am also doing the Consecration at the moment and the fruits are innumerable!
I hope it goes well for you. Mary is our mother and leads us to Jesus through humility, grace and prayer.

I will pray for you.

In corde Iesu, per Mariam,
Deus, Salus Nostra :gopray2:

I am so happy to hear that more and more people are into the consecration to our Blessed Mother. Over the past few years several retreat masters at the monastery here have recommended it highly.

There are Catholics and non-Catholics who misunderstand devotion to Mary…hopefully in time they will understand better.

Satan hates our Lady very much, because she is a mere creature and has unimaginable great graces as she is so highly privileged by Our Lord Jesus Christ!

I heard it explained once, by a priest, that Blessed Mother is nothing and she knows it. (humility). She is like a perfectly clear pane of glass that allows the Light of the Blessed Trinity to shine through. (no smudges).

In spite of her privileges she suffered much. She is the Woman of Faith! The perfect disciple.

Thank you Blessed Trinity…for our Blessed Mother!

Praise be to Jesus Christ…now and forever!

Thank you all so much for providing me with great information
!

I can’t wait to officially consecrate myself!!

One last question: do I need to go to Confession on the day itself or a few days earlier, or can a confession done the week before, for instance, be sufficient? Provided that I remain in a State of Grace in that period, of course.

God bless

What a wonderful metaphor your priest told you! Thanks for sharing it.

Although we didn’t use St Louis de Montfort consecration, we did 33 Days to Morning Glory by Father Michael Gaitley, based in part on St Louis’s method.

Father Gaitley recommends a good confession 8 days before. Also, receive Holy Communion before consecrating.

Our priest witnessed our verbal consecration in front of our church’s statue of Mary. Father suggested we each present our Lady with a rose, 28 roses for our Lady on the Feast of the Assumption.

God bless you.

**You sound like a Protestant
they claim that Jesus hears our prayers
and that praying to Mary and the saints is useless.

How ridiculous to think that Jesus hears prayers! **
