PRAYER TO ST. MONICA

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for

(the intentions of all on this thread)

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

St. Monica
Feastday: August 27
Patron of Wives and Abuse Victims

St. Monica was married by arrangement to a pagan official in North Africa, who was much older than she, and although generous, was also violent tempered. His mother Lived with them and was equally difficult, which proved a constant challenge to St. Monica. She had three children; Augustine, Navigius, and Perpetua. Through her patience and prayers, she was able to convert her husband and his mother to the Catholic faith in 370· He died a year later. Perpetua and Navigius entered the religious Life. St. Augustine was much more difficult, as she had to pray for him for 17 years, begging the prayers of priests who, for a while, tried to avoid her because of her persistence at this seemingly hopeless endeavor. One priest did console her by saying, “it is not possible that the son of so many tears should perish.” This thought, coupled with a vision that she had received strengthened her. St. Augustine was baptized by St. Ambrose in 387. St. Monica died later that same year, on the way back to Africa from Rome in the Italian town of Ostia.

Saint Monica-Pray for us!!! :gopray:

Greetings to All,
We have in Prayer two families. One for our god children whose mother wants to leave the family and become a nun. She is involved in a movement called the “Divine Will” and states it is the will of God that she leave the family to sanctify them and join a convent. The children are 11 & 12 and they were adopted. This is the second mother to leave them. The husband who has been celibate for 6 years (by the wife’s choice) is now a single father. We are the godparents and are doing what we can to take off work when needed to be part of the family and assist. The other family is part of our Church and their grandchildren are not being raised Catholic ( or anything at this time) as the children originally agreed. A battle is being waged and the children want more money for assistance in paying their bills and the grandchildren are being used as pawns. IE fix our ???, pay our ??? or you don’t get to see your grandchildren. A spiritual battle is being waged and we need some assistance from some prayer warriors. Just arrived home from visiting our god children and embracing a fellow parishioner lamenting over their children. I told them of the life of St. Augustine and St. Monica and they felt better. I told them what a terrible sinner I have been and Our Lord gave me grace to change my life…who knows how He will work in our life…just be patient. We ask for your prayers.
St. Monica & St Augustine Pray for Us!

"For with God nothing will be impossible! " (Luke 1:37)
“Impossible” takes on a new dimension when compared with “eternity.”

It’s been better than 60 years that I’ve been waiting for something “positive” to occur. Hmmm… That means I’ve waited in prayer the vast majority of my given days upon this earth… if patience is, indeed, a virtue, I had no idea that I was such a virtuous man.

St. Monica, and St. Rita of Cascia, are you just teasing me?
Or maybe I should rephrase that question… WHY are you teasing me?

Okay, back to the group’s regularly scheduled prayers… [/sigh]

**My son to return to the Church that he stopped believing in because he was dating and having sex with an unbelieving girl. She broke up with him yesterday and he is in emotional pain from being bonded to this girl who will not be his wife. Please St. Monica, keep him from seeking out another girl to have sex with, let him see that I am trying to help him not to suffer through his life this way.

Please also send my husband a sign that God has always been in his life and cares about him more than anyone on earth possibly can. God, let it be a BIG sign that he can’t mistake for anything else and he can’t take the credit for, let it be something HUGE that ONLY God could do for him. Let him also connect with our son in a way that will bond both of them as father and son, and turn them to God’s purpose.

And for all intentions on this thread.

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,

Saint Monica, Saint Rita and Saint Michael, please pray for my husband and I. My husband is speaking to me in a very evil manner. Please pray that my children and I will be strong and that he will be converted and be at peace. This happens often at this time of year-his unemployment, depression, electronic addictions and blaming me for everything…Help me to be loving and to see the good in him, although it is masked by the evil that is taking over him…

St. Monica,
Pray for all of the women on this thread and their intentions. Pray for our husbands so that they will become aware of the attacks of the devil and that the Holy Spirit will arm them with Spiritual weapons to fight against these attacks. Take the bondage off from their eyes so that they can see that the real enemy is the devil, not their wives who love them!
Lord Jesus, protect us!

For the conversion of my husband and all intentions of this post. For my marriage: both my husband and I are suffering depression. We’ve barely spoken to one another in about 2 months - with our schedules we are like ships passing in the night. I can’t get him to committ to a date night (we haven’t been out together - with or without the kids - in about 5 months).

St. Monica - pray to Jesus that even if DH NEVER changes, that God will change MY heart and help me to find joy and peace in Him once again. Help me Jesus to lay down my pride and hurt feelings and just be there for DH in whatever capacity that may be.

Help me Jesus!

St. Monica, St. Rita, and St. Michael,

Please pray for the conversion of my husband. Tough times are ahead of me as he has made clear (at least for now) he won’t divorce me if I convert but he’s very angry and verbally/emotionally on the attack. He’s hurt over my conversion and feels lost and betrayed and that I’m in rebellion to his spiritual authority. Please pray to God for us and St. Michael please keep any further attacks of the devil and his minions at bay…

Please God soften his heart to me and the church…

defenderoftruth - may both you and your husband come to know God’s love and peace. May He restore the time that has been stolen from you in your mutual suffering. Speaking as someone who is also in an unequally yoked marriage, I can certainly relate to some of the mistreatment your husband has directed at you. It’s a sad thing that we direct our frustration and anger at the one we love the most. I think DH and I both hurt b/c of feeling misunderstood by the other.

St. Monica, help us to persevere in love and patience and tender kindess for Love of our Lord who endured this and so much more for love of us. He endures our sin and anger every day.

For the conversion of sinners and unbelievers, for all the intentions of this thread, we humbly pray in Jesus’ name. God’s love to you all!
