We’ll need this…

PRAYER TO ST. MONICA

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for

(YOUR PERSONAL INTENTION HERE)

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen

I am really glad that a new thread was started. Now it feels fresh and I promise to check on everyone more often.

St. Monica pray for us. You know how helpless we feel at times, how hopeless we may feel. May we live a life of your example in being a great Catholic witness to our husbands.

Thanks be to God for little miracles they may happen in our life, even a simple smile or hug or seeing our spouse in prayer, thank you Lord. Blessed Mother, comfort and pray for us, we want holy families, we want our husbands to come to the truth of the church your son founded …

Wow I’m glad I decided to stick my nose in. I was wondering why the thread got “quiet” and I haven’t received any e-mail notices of new posts.

Now I know.

I continue my prayers and thoughts for all of you here on the St. M’s thread.

A quick update, my life is it’s usual up and down. Hubby decided to start going to counseling again (didn’t tell me until they sent a bill that I thought was an error). I’m on my quest to seek out my own happiness and perhaps this Lent I will discern what I can do to point myself in that direction.

Stay strong all, and above all, take care of yourself!

Oh Lambie…i have missed you! Good to see your post.

Well my husband remains taking his meds, is a better person to all of us, but the drinking still has his hooks in him. A few beers here and there, then drives home… …his business depends on his liscence.

I am afraid i will have to re-introduce, if you are drinking, stay at the farm…this will seperate is a bit (family) but i can not live with the possibility of him hurt, or another person due to this lac of responsibility. Especially since he claims, “you told me to come home everyday”.

How easily they deligate the blame to someone else. I was quick to respond, this is not my responsibility, even a teenager knows, if you drink, you do not drive. And although you believe it my fault, tell it to the judge…see if he’ll lock me up for your actions. I think not. Your deed, your stupidity…don’t make your family pay for this, you need your liscence and your life.

So, the charming life is better, but still not perfect…😊

Please pray for our family. I just found out today that my job will end on March 31st. I am the sole breadwinner in our family and have the medical insurance. My husband is disabled and we have five children ages ten, seven, five, three and one. We were struggling financially before this and maybe this is a blessing in disguise and there is a better job out there for me. Plus still need prayers for my husband to return to the Church.

Sweet blessed baby Jesus…watch over these little children and their parents. Mother Mary, you know her heart, please console her in this time of need.

mnmom, I will be praying for you.

Praise be to God, my husband mentioned going to RCIA. He went to Mass with us today (children’s school Mass), he talked about how nice it was, etc.

He’s slowed down on his drinking since I really told him like it is … that I’m tired of it. We are going out of town this weekend to a business function, please pray that he doesn’t stay drunk the whole time.

God bless! Dana

Praise the Lord for the work He’s doing in DH’s heart!!! Last week, DH unloaded after supper. ‘So, do you want the good news or the bad news?’ Of course, I asked for the bad new first. Bad news is he’ll be working 10-15 hrs of overtime/wk for the next month or so - dunno how this is bad news considering so many people are out of work and here he is w/ the opportunity to make more money.

After he went through all the whys and what fors behind the overtime, I actually forgot about the good news. ‘So, do you want the good news?’ ‘Sure,’ I said, thinking there was something that was more good news for him, but something I’d generally be indifferent about. He said he is giving up smoking for Lent and going to confession!!! He started on the patch yesterday and made his first confession in almost a year this past Saturday. He also went to morning mass w/ us as a family yesterday before we both went to work - even tho it wasn’t a holy day of obligation. AND he wore his ashes all day at work! I thought for sure he’d rub them off 😛

Just praying that the Lord continue to sustain DH in all his good efforts. He’s gotten into trouble in the past w/ the internet and the boys and I will be going out of town to visit family this weekend. Praying for God to continue to help DH stay pure - he is staying behind b/c he’ll have to work on Saturday.

Thank you for all of your prayers!!!

Dear Lord, please be with JLCecilia and her family as you work in her husband’s heart. Help him find the peace and love of a strong relationship with you, and let his family be a strong example of Christian love and faith for him. I pray that he continues to be drawn closer to you, especially during this time of Lent, a wonderful time for him to be drawn to you! Keep him pure, and be with him while he’s alone. And Lord, please be with JLCecilia and the boys as they’ll be out of town. Protect them as they travel, and may they return safely home.

Amen.

Friends,
Just wanted to share some great moments over the weekend. First, my husband commented on how great it was that our son plays with his nativity set(he was playing with him at the time) Thanks be to God and St. Monica.
At church yesterday, my son was naming our Lord or the Virgin Mary as he was flipping through his prayer cards on a ring. He has had them for over a year and yesterday it finally happened. I got so moved I became teary eyed.
Blessings to all,
Eli

I love you St. Monica please pray for all of us here and our families.
