ST. Thomas Aquinas

I have several books on Aquinas’s writings. They are very hard to understand. Are there books that take his subjects and translate them so they are easily understood ?

Chesterton’s bio of Aquinas, “The Dumb Ox” is not only highly readable, it is perceptive.More recently, Edward Feser’s “Aquinas” is good. Also, his “The Last Superstition: A Refutation of the New Atheism” is a good primer on the metaphysics of Aristotle and Aquinas.

You could try the Catechism of the Summa of St. Thomas Aquinas, it has a very simple and clear presentation.

Joseph Peiper has several good books that help understand the writings of Aquainas as well. The Chesterton reference already made above is a GREAT suggestion too.

I like Feser a lot. I’m re-reading “The Last Superstition” and “Aquinas” by him. Excellent stuff.
