Did you have a question?
Oops!

Any thoughts on a very popular Mass, well attended that intentionally borrows heavily from both Orthodox [side altars/ icons/ candles] & catholic expression. Encouraging side devotion, holy Absolution, counseling. A festival of evangelism in a northern nation promoting summer time religious events.

I would give it a hearty 👍

It just ought not be thought of as a substitute for the Divine Liturgy.

Confirmations of young people perhaps 15-23. The expression on the face of female priests.

An astounding 9 out of every 10 Finn gets confirmed!

The point is that Christians are praying for unity in the Mass, as we are obligated to do. The most important aspect of these church festivals is inviting all people to the holy Sacrament.

Unity is great.

But it cannot be wrought at the expense of Truth.

I am curious. Would you allow the Reverend Fred Phelps to preach the homily, in the name of Christian unity if you were in charge here?

Warning: offensive material is cited in the above reference to Fred Phelps.

Would you allow* anyone* to preach at this liturgy, if you were in charge, Evangel Catholic?

I subscribe to Gottesdienst, here is the lattest cover.
Now that is a Divine Service. I can sense the gratitude for God’s love just from that photo.

Appropriately from the Gottesdienst website:

The Church has again fallen upon hard times, only this time the hardness of the times is also hard to discern; these days it is by stealth and treachery that the devil seeks to plunder the heavenly treasury of its would-be saints. It is by putting on airs of love and sincerity, lately the devil’s common disguise, by smiling and putting an arm on the shoulder, and gently saying, You don’t really need to be so strict, you know; these people just want a little show of nice, ecumenical friendship among churches; they want peace and goodwill above all; they aren’t asking you to compromise your views, they’re only asking you to skirt over the differences a bit. Ah, but what are the differences?

This Mass is named for the Apostle St Thomas, who Lutherans honor on December 21. “My Lord and my God!" is attributed to St Thomas in connection to the holy Eucharist. St Thomas was the only witness of the Assumption of Mary into heaven, some believe.

“Doubting Thomas” is the intent to draw all Christians back to seeing and touching Jesus’ tangible and physical wounded body in the Mass.

Sorry, I had to stop reading when I saw “Postmodern Worship” 🤷
I looked at the same article, if the worship indicates that it has contempory, post-modern, blended, jazz or anything else than traditional, I run as far away as I can.
After we moved and we looked for a new church, I checked the websites of LC-MS churches, I found that there are some LC-MS churches that are ashamed of the Historic Liturgy and because they are trying to be Church Growth and Wannabe Baptist or Pentecostals. These type LC-MS churches all have praise bands, stages, and big screen TV to follow the bouncing ball for their songs. The LC-MS church that we attend has two traditional services each Sunday and communion each service.
