Any thoughts on a very popular Mass, well attended that intentionally borrows heavily from both Orthodox [side altars/ icons/ candles] & catholic expression. Encouraging side devotion, holy Absolution, counseling. A festival of evangelism in a northern nation promoting summer time religious events.

It just ought not be thought of as a substitute for the Divine Liturgy.

The point is that Christians are praying for unity in the Mass, as we are obligated to do. The most important aspect of these church festivals is inviting all people to the holy Sacrament.

Unity is great.

But it cannot be wrought at the expense of Truth.

I am curious. Would you allow the Reverend Fred Phelps to preach the homily, in the name of Christian unity if you were in charge here?

This Mass is named for the Apostle St Thomas, who Lutherans honor on December 21. “My Lord and my God!" is attributed to St Thomas in connection to the holy Eucharist. St Thomas was the only witness of the Assumption of Mary into heaven, some believe.

“Doubting Thomas” is the intent to draw all Christians back to seeing and touching Jesus’ tangible and physical wounded body in the Mass.

I looked at the same article, if the worship indicates that it has contempory, post-modern, blended, jazz or anything else than traditional, I run as far away as I can.
After we moved and we looked for a new church, I checked the websites of LC-MS churches, I found that there are some LC-MS churches that are ashamed of the Historic Liturgy and because they are trying to be Church Growth and Wannabe Baptist or Pentecostals. These type LC-MS churches all have praise bands, stages, and big screen TV to follow the bouncing ball for their songs. The LC-MS church that we attend has two traditional services each Sunday and communion each service.
