SPEAKING OF STAGED NEWS:

In one of television’s inadvertently funny moments, the NBC News correspondent was paddling in a canoe during a live report about flooding in Wayne, N.J. While she talked, two men walked between her and the camera _ making it apparent that the water where she was floating was barely ankle-deep.

Heh. There’s video.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, one of the soldiers at the Bush event blogs about what happened. Seems like a lot of media folks are up the creek, while bloggers wade by in hip boots . . . .

our local news stations often have their reporters standing outside their own studios “reporting live from Channel X studios in beautiful downtown Xville” as they recite details of a story for which they evidently have no video to show.

That is why I like those shows with video bloopers. You usually do not see that on the broadcast.

I was driving through Seabright NJ (seen a lot on the news from NYC and even the weather channel) about an hour after they showed the floods on TV, a couple of years ago. It does flood a lot but its the side streets that seem to be the worst. Beside it’s about only 1/4 mile or less wide in a lot of spots and the people who live there know what to do, because they expect it. I just think the News people just love over-dramatizing:rolleyes:
