The Carolina Hurricanes (WC 1) have taken the series against the New Yrk Islanders 4-0.

Well, that’s one prediction of mine that fell apart completely. I’m in a bit of shock as to how exactly it happened. Like how does a team sweep the Penguins - the Penguins - and then get swept?

That’s it, I’m calling it. The semifinals will be all wildcard teams! At this point, that almost makes sense.

Okay, the Eastern Conference is set with Boston against Carolina. One Wild Card team (Carolina) versus one non-Wild Card team (Boston). Now we wait and srr how the Western Conference plays out. Both of the Western Conference Wild Card teams are still in play.

Okay, Colorado pulled out a win to tie 3-3 with San Jose for the series. Both Wild Card teams are still in the running in the Western Conference for the Championship and the Stanley Cup. And one of the Eastern Conference Wild Card teams is in the Conference Championship there. So we still might get to see two Wild Card teams playing for the Stanley Cup.

So with the second round winding down, I’m in for a couple of stressful nights.

First, there’s St. Louis and Dallas. Dallas is a team I’d like to see win a Stanley Cup one day, and I’m a bit disappointed that Ben Bishop has never won one. On the complete flip side, I really don’t like St. Louis, and they’re pretty much the only team I actively root against, minus the defending champs, since I generally don’t like seeing a team win twice in a row, though I’d make exceptions for a few teams.

For the other game, I like both teams, but I have a particular love for San Jose and a lot of their players. At this point, it also provides some indirect entertainment, as Vegas fans try to claim that they deserve being where San Jose is.

Well, St. Louis just eliminated another Wild Card Team by beating Dallas 2-1 in the second OT period. That gave the St. Louis Blues the series 4-3. Now we get to see what the Sharks and the Avalanche will do tomorrow night.

41 seconds left and it looks like San Jose is going to eliminate the second Western Wild Card team. San Jose is leading 3-2. SAN JOSE DID IT! Final score is 3-2 for the Sharks!

Round 3 for the Conference Championships will be Boston and Carolina in the East and St. Louis and San Jose in the West

Here’s hoping the Sharks repeat their beating of the Blues in 2016.

As for the East, I’m a bit torn. Normally, I’d say the Canes. They have a few players I like, are entertaining, and don’t have Marchand. On the flip side, Rask had been entertaining himself, and that Dunkin Donuts commercial has made me a fan of Pastrnak. But then again, the Bruins have Marchand…

When I see the name Pasternak I usually think of the Russian novelist, but since I do like that commercial (although I prefer Krispy Kreme doughnuts), I’ll just have to adjust my thinking. If the Bruins can take out the Hurricanes, that takes out the last of the Wild Card teams. Then it’s just East versus West.

Boston won 5-2 over Carolina! So it won’t be another sweep for the Hurricanes, Now get to wait until Saturday to see what is going to happen in the Western Conference.

So it won’t be another sweep for the Hurricanes
If I were Boston, and if I went up 3 - 0, I’d intentionally lose at this point just to avoid whatever bad joo joo is at work here. I mean if the Islanders get swept a series after getting swept, do you really want to be the team that sweeps the team that swept the Islanders? You’re just asking to lose the finals!

San Jose is certainly starting out like they intend to win the Western Conference; five minutes in and they have already scored their first goal. Now to see if they can keep it up.
Oops! five minutes later and St. Louis has a goal, too.

Boston is definitely looking at sweeping Carolina on Boston’s home ice; the score is 6-0 in Boston’s favor halfway through the third period.

And tonight it looks like St. Louis is returning the favor. At the beginning of the second period it’s 2-0 in favor of St. Louis.
Or maybe not; San Jose has just come back to scored twice and tie the game at 2-2.

I missed the last few goals. I was busy with some stuff, and that tripping call against Sorensen in the second made me angry enough so realize that I should probably spend less time with such a distraction.

Well, St. Louis has managed to get the lead back. It’s the last half of the third period and the Blues are leading 3-2 over the Sharks.

St Louis has scored again. Now it’s 4-2 in St. Louis’ favor with about 2-1/2 minutes left.
Final buzzer and St. Louis has tied the series with one win each.

Tonight it’s Boston at Carolina. but it still seems to be Boston’s game. Its the middle of the second period and Boston is leading 2-0. Everybody had a slow start for scoring, since nobody got a goal in the first period.
End of the second period and Boston is leading 2-1 over Carolina.
End of the third and Boston wins the third game 2-1.
That makes the series Boston 3 Carolina 0.
Do I see another sweep looming, this time of Carolina and not by Carolina?
