Seconded: I’ve played MMOs in the past, and while the games themselves might be PG-13 level… the players can be downright NC-17 rated. Thankfully, most games have a profanity filter, but you always get the wiseapple who finds ‘creative’ ways to circumvent the filter. Thankfully, there is also the Report button for cases where someone is being really lewd.Parents shouldn’t let their kids play MMOs anyway. Even if the actual game content is safe, none of the chat is. Its like throwing your kid in to an adult chat room. Its even worse on “role-playing servers”. Not to mention the violence and heterosexual sex in the game. My character has had 3 sex partners in her 46 levels of existence. SWTOR is not a kids game and should not be expected to act as such just because parent’s won’t read or learn how to understand ratings.
Its called personal responsibility and good parenting to make sure games/movies/etc are appropriate. Not Bioware’s.
Your last sentence is the crux of the matter: unfortunately, there are way too many lazy parents who expect the media to be a surrogate parent/nanny to their kids.
