So this may sound a bit silly but I was wondering, can one have too many statues like of Our Lord, the Blessed Virgin, and the saints? How much statues and images is too much?
No, as long as they lead you to pray and ask the saints for intercession. So this may sound a bit silly but I was wondering, can one have too many statues like of Our Lord, the Blessed Virgin, and the saints? How much statues and images is too much?![]()
I agree with youIt dependsAt some point in the devout life, images may become distracting. You will notice when something kindles and strengthens your devotion vs. when something hinders your prayer life.
Thatās trueI donāt think you can have too many. Theyāre like pictures of family members.

Thatās what my parish does but during the christmas season and Holy Week. We take out the statues of angels, the Nativity scene, a big cross with a crown of thorns for Holy Week. And Imyself do this when it is a saintās feast day or a special time in the Church.Just a thought - but couldnāt someone ārotateā the statues they have like I do with family photos? (Assuming they are small enough to be storable?)
For me, it wouldnāt isnāt an issue of distraction as much as becoming accustomed to them. Changing their position or bringing out new ones every few months and storing a couple of the ones that had been on display for awhile help me be more aware and more appreciative of them. But I donāt know if that would be proper for saintās statues?![]()
