As a note: if the Pope does decide this, I will be fine with it. But I believe alot of people focus too much of their time during communion on watching how others receive and their postures and whether the other people are reverent enough and not enough time thanksgiving and praying.

People actually do this? If anyone does that and reads this, you need to MYOB.

Yes, people do that. Many people have commented on how I go forward when I am in a Latin parish. Head down, arms crossed in an X over my chest, and singing the hymn, if I know it. I pull my hands to the traditional western prayer position as I approach the minister (Ordained or Extraordinary) to prevent confusion.

Many appreciate it. A few comment that they are confused by it.

One told me “Orthodox are not allowed to take communion.”

Poor chap just about died of shock when I suggested he actually read the cannon law on the matter. (CIC 844 §3) I then pointed out that I am not Eastern Orthodox, but Eastern Catholic, in union with the pope, and then, when he asked “eh, what?”, spent half an hour explaining the Eastern Churches to the bloke. Which he absorbed, and apparently took to heart.

Why do you think this incident is a reason for communion on the tongue only? How does this instance support your cause? Where is documentation to back you up that the Vatican is thinking about lifting the indult? I know the Pope prefers communion on the tongue but where has he said that he will make communion on tongue mandatory for the conferences who have the indult?
You got a computer, you look it up. Al Kresta of Ave Maria Radio talked in length about the subject.

I’ve tried to find it. I’ve seen where some bishops want it, but I still haven’t seen anything on where the Vatican is thinking about going to mandatory communion on the tongue with the conferences who have the indult. Also, you never did explain how communion on tongue would have prevented this incident.
