What do you believe about stigmata? Do you believe that it exists. Here is a website that tells more about stigmata:

newadvent.org/cathen/14294b.htm

No scientist today have been able to give legitimate proof that says that it is a disease of some sort. In fact they have not been able to explain it period except by their faith in Christ. So what do you believe about stigmata? God speed.

I believe that authentic stigmata does occur.
Padre Pio had holes in his hands. The holes were all the way through his hands, from the top of his hands right through the palms. Some cynics tried to claim that he used acid to make his hands raw and bloody for photo-ops, but that is nonsense.
At his death, the wounds were completely healed with no scars remaining.

what I believe is entirely without relevance. What does the Catholic Church believe about this and other outward manifestations of holiness? The Church makes its judgement after the person dies, and judges their sanctity and virtue on the same basis as any other potential saint considered for canonization, independent of the stigmata, apparitions, visions or other outward signs of holiness alleged to have occurred during their lifetime. No one ever became a saint because he displayed the stigmata, had visions or mystical experiences. These rare individuals were the first to warn against reliance on such signs. they may have been corroborating evidence of heroic virtue and sanctity, but would never be judged apart from the evidence of the person’s entire life.

Several saints have had this, the first of which was St. Francis of Assissi. It is part of their canonization that it was proved real. So yes, it has to be real.

I voted i believe it is true and real the stigmata.

Although I find it strange that the wounds always seems to be in the hands and not in the wrist. We now know that jesus wasnt hung by his hands so why mysticaly get sores on your hands in image of our images rather than in image of christ.

Well the hanging by the wrists i guess is just heresy but what I have heard over time that the hands couldnt support the body wieght although the wrists would.

Didn’t St. Paul also say that he bore the wounds of Christ. Though his were not visible.

i have a crucifix just next to me…it’s the hands, not wrists.

Regardless of what you’ve got on your Crucifix (which is more an artistic representation) you really need the advice from a Roman historian on the subject. I was under the impression that during crucifixion the nails went through the wrist as the hands weren’t strong enough tissue wise to support the body. Besides, anatomists have traditionally held that the wrist is part of the hand?

Regardless, i believe it to be real, and draw a measure of both amusement and bewilderment watching scientists run around trying to analise such things.

interesting. Maybe we should search Romans crucifixions
I think the Romans actually use to tie people to the cross rather than nailing to the cross. I may be wrong about this but i believe the good and bad thief that were crucified next to jesus were tied to there cross. In the long run i believe they also had there legs broken by the centurion and im not sure but I think this may have been Longinus the centurion who took his spear “the spear of destiny” to jesus torso.

Yeah ive seen that before as well but check this out I dont know what kind of christian this site is but it raises and intresting point

Very interesting website. I was begining to think that he was nailed in his wrists, but that would be impossible for anyone especially at his age with out breaking a bone in the wrist. I never imagined that the human muscles we that strong so that they could not rip in such a way. God speed.

If the Stigmata were given through the wrists, where the nails actually went, the person would not be able to do much because of the nerve the nail would have hit. A large nail driven through the wrist would cause a most excruciating pain.

The reason for this is that the “hand” in that area and at that time, consisted of the wrist as well.
