I used to be solid rightwing many years ago. I now identify more with the ideological position of Angela Merkel’s German party, the CDU.

But that’s not really what you called out in this instance.

Somebody apparently called Stormy Daniels a tramp, or so you said. I didn’t see the post and don’t know anything about it. Out of the blue, you challenged me to condemn whoever said that. I told you I wouldn’t condemn that person for your satisfaction. Then you accused me of being inconsistent, and now refusing to be accountable.

That’s just personal hostility, and you still won’t let go of it. I expect your next posts will be picking my sentences apart.

Pointing out the partisan nature of your condemnations is not hostility. On these boards you cannot accuse me of being anything but consistent. For example, I have condemned Donald Trump for his immoral behavior and I have condemned Bill Clinton for his moral behavior. Your condemnations will vary based on whether the person making them is a republican or a democrat. Those are facts which you cannot dispute.

Facts? The statement doesn’t even make sense. If, as you assert, I am an inveterate partisan, my “condemnations” would not vary be on who made “them” (whatever “them” is) but on the nature of the thing said.

So, for example, if you said “I am glad to see that Trump got a substantial defense spending increase notwithstanding that the budget bill is otherwise excessively bloated” I wouldn’t condemn that because I would agree with it.

On the other hand, if, say, Raxus, who seems always to make sense, said “I hate it that Trump signed a budget with a defense spending increase, and he ought to go to hell for doing it.” I would condemn such a statement.

Understand now?

What if raxus accused Clinton thus “If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, and endorses Communist / Marxist rhetoric and turns a blind eye to the bad things the other ducks in its group do, then it’s probably a silly, fascist, alt-left, Commie-loving duck.” From Oct '17. Is that ok kind of accusation to make?
 
My mind is constantly boggled at the contortions Trump supporters go through to make him seem less odious and unsuitable than he is.
 
I realize that we can’t know. Only God and Trump do. We all have a Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde inside of us. Overcoming Hyde is a lifelong battle.
Trump is evolving before our eyes. He’d advance faster x for the constant attacks.

We supporters heard from God, sorry Joy, to elect him. He is doing as he said. Christmas was welcomed. He receives prayer from leaders. He is PROLIFE now. It’s not that mysterious. Anti-Trumpers constantly post severe attacks against Trump, virtually never actually addressing any policies or real actions that affect our lives. Trump supporters respond. When the latter believe the attack is wrongful, does anyone really expect them to criticize Trump in their response?

“Odious” is a subjective judgment, meaning the man repulses you for whatever your unstated reasons are for it. I don’t think any Trump supporter cares whether you think that. Certainly there are people of good will who think the sins of his past and his sometimes harsh tongue are “odious”. “Unsuitable” is different, though. So far, he has ended the ISIS war, apparently successfully. He has appointed a man to the Supreme Court who appears to be prolife. He has reduced my taxes. He is acting to remove alien criminals from the country. He is reviewing trade agreements in an effort to reduce our deficits. He has encouraged European states to bear more of the cost of their own defense. He has at least a small chance of getting NoKo to denuclearize. He has gotten the Little Sisters out of the government’s cross-hairs. he has reinstated the Mexico City policy. And possibly he will be able to de-politicize the IRS, FBI and CIA. I sure hope so. Their involvement in our politics is extremely troubling to me. Much more so than whether Trump did or did not have an affair with a porn star years ago (which I doubt anyway).

From my standpoint as a supporter, it’s hard to think him terribly unsuitable. Yes, I know, some think the tax cut will increase the deficit, and maybe it will. Maybe it won’t. Maybe driving ISIS into the ground only helped Iran’s interest. I don’t know. Maybe we’ll get into it with the Russians in Syria. Don’t know. Maybe a general trade war will start. Maybe not. Don’t know. Maybe Trump’s meeting with Un will be a big nothing. Probably will be, but we don’t know.

yes. It did. But Raxus’ post was a response to one by dvdjs, which was a response to some prior post by Raxus. I looked for the last one, but couldn’t find it and gave up for now. I might return to it. That’s the problem sometimes with individual posts. There is a context that is sometimes hard to find.

Around here? Anyone who is slightly to the left of, say, George W. Bush, or who espouses the most minimal regulation of firearms, is routinely denounced as either a fascist or a Communist. Or both.

I’ve been told, here at CAF, that I’m un-American. Or not an American at all. I’ve received threatening PMs.

Really, a “fascist Commie-loving” person is pretty mild, as things go around here. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

In your mind of course, because you never actually post examples of the so called severe attacks. For example, is the Stormy Daniels story a severe attack? Perhaps, but if a porn star made an allegation against any president it would be big news. So it is nothing outside of the norm.
