By overcome I don’t mean eliminate or change, but to choose virtue (with the help of God’s grace) despite those inclinations to the contrary that are out of our control.
I’ve come out to precisely 2 Catholic people because everyone else has explicitly told me that they wouldn’t want to know a gay person or has harbored some serious stereotypes about gay people that I don’t have the time and energy to deal with.
It is what it is. Nothing I can really do about it.
Ah I should mention that I’m not trying to score pity points or anything, I was just relaying my personal experience to show why gay Catholics or other religious would be attending a Pride event.

I’m wondering if there are any leper readings this month? Or anything that would lend itself to a homily on appropriate treatment. That would be a great Catholic thing to do for Pride Month.

Well, and no one knows what positive correlations there are for any of the organic factors that might make a same-sex orientation (or any neurologically-based orientation) more likely.
For instance, we know that with testosterone the same hormone that can put a person at risk for aggression can also boost confidence and help a person to be bold to do good. There may be other hormones or combinations of hormones that have the difficult effect of giving people a sexual interest in persons of their own sex, which cannot lead to a valid marriage, but for all we know there are other effects that help in virtue. Like testosterone, too, just because some combination of hormones or some other organic cause might make same sex attraction more likely doesn’t mean that it is the only cause. Many things can make a person aggressive, not just testosterone, testosterone isn’t bad just because it makes some people aggressive, and people who are aggressive because they have high levels of testosterone can normally learn to exercise self-mastery, even if it could take a lot of vigilance.
I have a openly bisexual mother she’s confirmed Catholic doesn’t attend Mass watches Jesuit discussions once in a while… Sends them to me on WhatsApp… . I probably agree with most of your views on the matter at hand. It’s a sin a great one. But my best friend an ex Muslim who now wants me to be his Godfather and is remarkably ‘faithful’ given his late conversion.he’s 40 odd… Round there… Told me a story he said on a rainy Manchester[UK] afternoon over the phone there was a prostitute* somewhere* who saw a horse by a river she removed her shoe filled it with water and the horse drank… He said because of this one thing unoemwein my ugandan language I dunno the Italian… She inherited eternal life… To say someone is not faithful to me is ‘heresy’… R u so without sin that u cast that huge rock even though God himself has told u and held up a mirror to your sins through that famous parable… Homosexuality is dangerous but what’s even more dangerous is when we execute people because of their mistakes their sins. We’re all fallen been reading your Bible lately prodigal son… the hired workers my grandfather was a catechist the first thing I did was give my child my firstborn son to be baptized if I had it my way it would have been the same day… Priest told me to wait till Christmas that month was painful nursing a unbaptized infant crying paranoid n worried something gonna happen to him… If homosexuals come to church I would just feel how I felt that day my mom came with me to St. Chad’s and asked to take the eucharist… God bless you all! Amen.
Those people are committing a sin by falsely accusing you. Consider them to be children of the devil, since the Bible calls the devil the “father of lies”.
Oh, and people who follow the evangelical counsel to give all to Christ without distraction get this from both sides: that is, from both heterosexual and homosexual people. If you don’t have a partner–married, unmarried, it doesn’t matter–then it must be because you are ashamed that you are only interested in people of your own sex. Never mind that even people who aren’t religious sometimes decide not to settle for just whatever and whoever makes themselves available!!
Honestly, I think there are some who cannot bear the thought that an attractive person would reserve herself or himself for something other than being somebody’s sexual partner. Many of the women who were martyrs in the early Church suffered death because of this kind of expectation. Other people cannot imagine that someone who remains chaste hasn’t simply tried to be sexually active and failed. It is a very twisted way of looking at the human person: that is to say, it is a way that puts sex before everything else. They make it sound as if continence is akin to holding one’s breath under water.
The people who make fun of those who exercise self-control when it comes to sex are the very same ones who will make fun of a people who do not exercise self-control when it comes to food.

It is the opposite of charitable to remain silent when others are sinning.
I commend the El Cajon priest.
