After 7 years of fighting non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, 15 drugs in various regimens and a clinical trial, the cancer returned for a third fight. Sadly, in those seven years, the lymphoma had mutated into two distinct sub-types (both chemo-resistant) and I had also developed a marrow cancer (MDS) that was a precursor to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. My children agreed to be tested. My only son - my firstborn- saved my life by donating his hematopoietic stem cells so that I could have a transplant. I now have his blood type, his allergies, but also the gift of life which he gave me. We have a very special father-son bond in that regard.
