A vocation to marriage has always existed. The lure and attraction of a high-pressure business life has not.
This is very true…yet we are called to be yeast and leaven, the salt of the earth, which includes to high pressure business situations also … and prepared to be Catholic Christians in such a workplace. Of course, this could be the call within the vocation of marriage also, as well as the single state. Jesus was not married.
The O.Carm “Leaven” which is a lay institute of consecrated life includes women in business and the workforce who continue as consecrated lay women in their normal workplace situations. They did begin in community life with a view to being religious and then discerned a different call and moved out of the monastic situation where they had been living in community to resume their normal lay lives living in their own homes, which has now become “The Leaven” - based I think in Ireland.

Blessings…Barb:) **

Any suggestions of prayers or books about accepting (not discerning) the vocation of marriage?

The problem is, when I get stressed out, I think of my old life and part of me wants it back. It was so easy!. I didn’t have to concern anyone with my own business. I did what I wanted when I wanted to. Now, that’s not the case. I’m much happier with my life now, but try telling that to me when I’m having one of those moments. I feel like I’m being split down the middle. Half of my heart is independent and the other half wants to be a wife/mother. It’s like I’m tearing myself in half, but trying not to lose my identity in the process. Any advice?

Congratulations on entering the church. Welcome:extrahappy:
My heart surges every time I hear a story like yours I am so happy for you. I may not be the wisest person on the web but I would suggest prayerfully taking your time in this decision. Learn to love God even more deeply and you will want nothing less for your children.
What better a gift can we pass on to our children than eternal life with God. Pure Love keep the Lord in your life your marriage and trust him entirely your blessings will be great.
May Jesus grant you peace in this life decision.

Haha, thanks for the welcome. My parish priest echoed everyone yesterday when, to close his homily, he repeated “pray, Pray PRAY!” It’s been duly noted, and I certainly am.
