Dear Catholic Friend:
Code:
I urge you to protest showings of the immoral V-Monologues play on Catholic campuses by [clicking here.](http://tfp.org/student_action/activities/protests/monologues_2008.htm)

Twenty Catholic colleges plan to show the V-Monologues in the next few months – a play that promotes sexual anarchy and threatens the souls of students.

It's appalling to see prominent Catholic universities such as Georgetown and Notre Dame allow this play which subverts Catholic moral teaching.

[Will you please help defend the truth and **sign this e-petition**](http://saprotest.tfp.org/Protest.aspx?id=e3c9bbbc-9792-47ea-87dd-3ada3451ab3d)

If you join this campaign to stop moral decay on Catholic campuses, we may avoid further scandal. In fact, last year's peaceful protest triggered many cancellations of the V- Monologues. It was a big success.
God bless you!

This was a big deal at Notre Dame this week, when ND’s Catholic student paper (The Irish Rover) first reported that a group of high-ranking bishops, AND Cardinal Levada, decided to pull out of a meeting scheduled to be hosted there, so as not to be seen as endorsing the play. It’s all on their blog.

How sad is this? It seems that some of those in charge do not have the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what we believe and “teach”. Thank heaven for Church leaders like Cardinal Levada.

It really is shocking that this is held at Catholic institutions.

Stupid question, though, do you have to be a student or connected with a university to sign the petition?

I have been signing these protest letters ever since I found the site. They make the University line optional. So, I sign my name but do not give a University name. I did go to two Catholic colleges over my career when I was a student. I have sent 3 children to Univeristies and I have one I am sending next year. I figure my signing is legitimate.

I asked my daughter about the Monologues. She saw them at her university several yeas ago. Here are some of her observations.

"The objective has some merits, because it presents the violence (physical and psychological) committed against women around the world. The organization also contributes its profits to organizations, shelters and other groups that protect women’s rights and keeps them safe from violence.

There are moments in the monologues that are very explicit and even vulgar. These can be difficult to swallow.

I liked the idea of making people aware of women’s issues, but I am not a die-hard fan of the play. There were parts that made me feel uncomfortable."

I thought this was a balanced perspective from a young Catholic woman. I share it for what it’s worth.

JR 🙂
