Eh. I can’t stand the taste of alcohol, so if I ever become pregnant, I still won’t be drinking.

Not that surprised. Honestly alcohol in small quantities is seen as nothing but good for the adult human body (unless your are an obsessive calorie counter), it is actually sort of medicinal. Heck, beer recipes are among the earliest available pieces of the written word and many anthropologists believe it played a more than significant role in the development of human society.

I mean its even in the Bible:

Sirach 31: 27-28 (NAB)

Wine is very life to man if taken in moderation. Does he really live who lacks the wine which was created for his joy?

Joy of heart, good cheer and merriment are wine drunk freely at the proper time.

Maybe my palette just isn’t as sensitive, but I would say that the variety of beverages alcohol comes in is so diverse that I would be hard pressed to associate any universal quality to them. Not to say I have any problem with you not drinking, but taste seems like an odd reason to me. To me it is almost like saying “I can’t stand the taste of vegetables” so I just have to wonder; Can you honestly say that you can taste some distinct (or even subtle) flavor that is the same in beer, wine, and liqueur?
