i bet though , if its no, the government will still try and push it through.

After they have sorted out who is actually an Australian citizen in Parliment
 
Or, you know, Australia could join the rest of the civilized world and stop treating regular old gay couples like aliens. Banning it does no good. Only harm.

The “rest of the civilized world” is slowly waking up to the fact that progressive leftists have no self-control and once some of their ideas are imposed on “the rest of the world” they won’t stop the imposing until all of their ideas, no matter how bad, are also imposed. So “stop treating regular old gay people like aliens” really means to accept, embrace, endorse and like everything “old gay couples like,” or you will be branded with every awful name that can be thought and treated like a spiteful idiot until you finally do.

In short, when those “old gay couples” stop treating regular folks who see the value of marriage – as between men and women who want to become parents as a unique and valid state of life – as targets of fines, legal harassment and social assault, and stop trying to financially cripple private businesses who don’t support the idea that a “marriage” between “old gay couples” is exactly the same as a marriage between complimentary sexed couples, then your “no big deal” view of the matter might gain you some traction, but I doubt for long because progressive leftists have no self-control and once some of their ideas are imposed on “the rest of the world,” they can’t resist trying to impose all of their ideas.

Faustian bargains are still Faustian no matter how hard you work at making them out to be benign and of no great consequence.

I’ve mostly resigned myself into thinking that marriage is something that is going to be defended outside of the West (at least for the next 20-30 years anyway), but who knows.
