I listened to the news report from Vermont and did not hear anything about the Bishop mandating this to be the form for Communion.Mmmmmm I read the entire company news and it’s clear, that this WAS NOT a Protestant practice. **The Arch diocese in Vermont **declared that this system of communion would be used during cold and flu system. It doesn’t seem to be optional. Some members of the parish welcomed it, others did not.
I’m not Catholic so I don’t have an opinion one way or another, but in my own church we do not use communal cups EVER.
The Vermont Bishop, like many other bishops and pastors during the H1N1 ‘pandemic’, mandated that there be no Communion from the Chalice and no shaking of hands at the Sign of Peace. We did the same in our parish and it didn’t involve individual glasses and a ‘Host dispenser’. We just stopped offering the Chalice and we bowed instead of shaking hands.
I honestly think the company linked to these reports to show that there is a need for their product, not to say that their product was used.
What did bother me was reading the newspaper article and having a diocesan representative tell the media that some people are upset that they can’t ‘complete Communion’. HELLO!! Why would you ever make such a comment without emphasizing that Communion with Host alone is not ‘incomplete’?
