Dearest Moe,

Thinking of you all the time…

In Australia we are 15 hours in front of you i believe. (I will blame my cousin in Florida if i am wrong) Hopefully God hears my prayers in Mass for you to handle tomorrow as best you can…

Father’s day choked me up, i found out 2 days before Father’s Day, so i get sad when that day comes. I hate to say this to you, but and as someone else said, i found the first anniversary to be oh so painful and probably nearly as horrid as when i found out. Immense, deep grief overtook me and i was a mess. This year is the 2nd anniversary… June and September choke me up… Died on 10 June, found 20 June, notified me 2 September (my son’s b’day 4 September) and cremated 29 September, (DH b’day 30 September) so i have 4 daddy grieving days as i call it… i can’t get around this. Saw my grief counsellor again last week and she said that this is all natural… We have our good days and our bad days… If i try too hard… i am a mess… And he was my daddy, not by child, so i really don’t know how you do it! Moe, You are an inspiration to ME!

I have a wonderful Christian grief counsellor who works for the National Loss and Grief Association, she is a retired doctor, and mum’s friends got me onto her. I ended up seeing a psychologist for 9 months also… I was having a bad trot the other week as the gyno said my egg had died that month and that there is no way i would ovulate and i got into deep depression… then dad came out… Cried for 2 days and was a mess, got into a state of depression, didn’t want to shower, wash the dishes, cook dinner, didn’t want to do anything but die… Pulled out the suicide notes, all the documentation between me and the lying police… Showed a girlfriend everything… What for? I don’t know, but i felt better at the end of my crying binge! Joan (my grief counsellor) said this is all normal… I like to hold his things when i get like that… Or i get his cremation box out of its resting place, and i cry and talk to him, hold him and kiss him. I know they are only his remains, i know he is in heaven with God, but as sick as it may sound, that is how i deal with my grief… and i don’t care what ANYBODY says. I am not ready to have his ashes buried… i like to have them close by… My FIL regrets 21 years later that he scattered his wife’s ashes… I will never scatter them, but am not ready to do anything else with them. I am respectful to them and don’t do anything but hold them etc… My Priest is ok with this as long as i am not disrespectful, and that i would NEVER be. I don’t do it very often, only when i am really down. 😦

There were days when i did NOT want to feel better, i wanted to be sad. I know that goes against our faith in a way as we should rejoice that our loved ones are in heaven, but in reality…nah! I never forget one day when i was distraught - screaming and losing it… shaking etc… and mum asked me if i wanted to get better for my son, and i actually said no, as i wanted to be in my grief and get it all out. My DH lost his mum at 15 and never dealt with it properly. He held his pain in for over 15 years and rarely let it out, and i saw his hurt and pain in that, so i refused to be the same. I did not want to smile for people. I was hurting for my daddy. I wanted his big arms and hands around me again. At his funeral in the taped eulogy, i told people how he would cuddle me in those arms and all i wanted was to run into those arms again… i said that this is what i am yearning for, and when i die i will run into his arms again… You see, i am still grieving, so please don’t try to get over this too soon, as i fear you may crash… and that is not good… I was blessed that i didn’t have to go to work, i really don’t know how you do it, you are amazing Moe.

You have helped me in my grief through sharing yours… I hope i never upset you…

Oh Moe ❤️

You? a disgrace to our faith? I beat you there my friend! I went to Mass the Sunday after i found out on the Friday, i think i went for 3 weeks but then i gave up… and i gave up on God for a while. I did not go to Mass… I did not have Holy Communion, yet when i first found out, it was so important for me to have Jesus - i could have lived in the Church, and then the desire left me. I was so absorbed in self pity, i was in my own little world, and my Priest said that God does understand. You have not let go of your faith… see the difference? Don’t beat yourself up, we have people who do enough of that for us… If wanting your flesh and blood back is a failure, then i fail along side you Moe. I cried that cry for well… even now i get into a state and just cry out for him. I have yelled at God which i thought was not possible!

It is so natural to want to hold her and be with her… If you weren’t feeling this way, you wouldn’t be a mother sweetheart, that’s what i think anyway for what it’s worth.

I see you differently to how you see yourself. We never see ourselves the way other people do!

You forget that what you, Greg and Amanda are going through is not the ‘norm’. It’s been 8 long weeks and you have* only *picked out her plot which must have been *so *heartbreaking for you and your husband. Once you lay your McKayla to rest, you may feel that little speck of serenity back… All in God’s time, and when it comes to me, his time is taking it’s time! But i trust in him.

Thank you for saying i could never upset you, you don’t know how worried i have been. You are so fragile at the moment. I have Holy Communion before you due to the time difference, so i will offer mine for you, to have a peaceful Mother’s Day, and i will pray extra hard that you feel McKayla’s presence around you tomorrow… As said, i know my dad is in heaven, but i know God has allowed him to visit me to comfort me… I am always trying to be aware of things around me so that God may allow him to see me and his Grandson… I talk to him and tell him things…

I have 3 grief books:
  1. “Healing Grief” by Barbara Ward, a guide to loss and discovery (Published by Vermilion, in London, UK)
2.“I’ll Hold You In Heaven” (Healing and hope for the parent who has lost a child -Regal Books, written by Dr Jack W Hayford, who is a senior pastor of the ‘Church on The Way’ in California.) Who says “This isn’t myth, fable, legend or a selection of poetic thoughts for the sorrowful. This is truth to set us free. Here we are specifically freed to expect to meet children in heaven, to recongize them and to be with them.”
  1. “To help you through the hurting.” by Marjorie Holmes. (Hodder Christian Paperbacks)
Not written by Catholics, but they are Christian. I will look for ‘A Grief Unveiled.’ Thank you ❤️

I feel like i actually do know you Moe. Thank you for opening up and sharing with me…

As always in my ❤️ :gopray: :hug1:

May God comfort you and your family at this most difficult time. May He grant your daughter eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

You are in my family’s thoughts and prayers. We will say a rosary for McKayla.

God bless.

Hi Moe, I know mother’s Day will be very hard for you so just letting you know you will be in my prayers, and I will offer up my communion for you.

May she pass through the Heavenly Gates and be in comfort in the company of all the holy men and women and God our Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.

May she rest eternally in peace and in the presence of our Lord.

May you have the peace of Christ, knowing that her and her eternal fate now rest in the Precious Hands of God.

Moe:

Prayers being offered for you today, Mothers Day. May you receive the gifts of peace and comfort:

Death is nothing at all;
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way you always used to.
Laugh as we have always laughed together.
Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be the household word it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
there is absolute, unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind
just because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well, nothing is past, nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
only better…infinitely happier, and forever
we will all be one together with Christ.
Love doesn’t die, people do.
So when all that’s left of me is love,
give me away as best you can.
I’ll see you at at home, where I’ll be waiting.

Thank you … I felt strong today - more than I thought I would - surely it was because of prayers and everyone thinking of us and offering their Eucharists for us.

I did break down after communion …just missing her 😦

BACK AT YOU SONJA … thank you sooooo much!!!11

There are NO COINCIDENCES!!! I am heading up to bed now … it has been a tough day … tougher than most people would believe …

I wish she were here, although I know she is in perfect hands (arms), I just wish she was in mine.

Loving you,

Moe

PS. One day, i would love to send you a photo of myself and my 2 boys (hubby acts like a boy at times! God bless him!) so you can put a face to the writing. 🙂

I just read your post. It makes me want to cry for you. You will be in my prayers, I promise.

Moe,

Mother’s Day is nearly over. It may have been better or worse than you imagined or hoped, but it is over and you have survived; as you will on many more Mother’s Days. Some will be easier and some more difficult, but your faith; the intercessions of Our Virgin Mother and the saints; and the prayers of others will carry you through.

Praying for peace for you and your family,
Joan

May God continue to bless you as He already has and may He grant you many more Mother’s Days.
