Well, taking care of the environment is part of Catholic Theology. Vatican II has helped put much of the sexism of the past in the rear view window and women have more duties now than before it.
 
Ruether also wants to discard patriarchal and hierarchical notions of God; she and other “eco-feminists” have said that God can be called Gaia, the name of the Roman mother earth goddess.
